    Help with Bios Identification

Please refer to the image attached.

I have this Dell N4010 DAOUM8MB6E0 Rev E board with me which has no sign of life. 3.3V is present and nothing happens on pressing the switch button. Switch button has 5V present.

Looking at the the schematic I am confused with Bios. This board has 2 bios . One connected to IO chip and other one to the PCH

As of now the one connected to EC has 4MB data written to it and the other one is just 1MB.
Have they messed up the schematic ? If so which bios IC should I use where.

    Re: Help with Bios Identification

Yeah there are a lot of small inconsistencies like that in schematics. Doesn't matter, the correct part number is written under the chip "MX25L8005" which is indeed a 8Mbit chip.

U9 is the EC firmware, 8Mbit, connected directly to the EC and handles the beginning of the power sequence.
U4 is the BIOS firmware, 32Mbit, that the CPU will run as soon as it receives power and exit reset state.

Here since you get no reaction to power button, the issue is most likely *not* related to the BIOS. It can be related to EC firmware, so you could try to flash it.

It can also be a number of different things as both EC and PCH handle the power sequence and are very complex chips with lots of requirements.

Thanks sir. So if I understand correctly U9 should have the 8Mbit chip ( The previous repair person has put 32 Mbit chip here )

Also what points should I check on IO chip to move in the right direction.

If it's not the correct chip, then put the correct chip first and put the correct EC firmware on it.
If it doesn't have the correct EC firmware the board will not turn on.
(having the wrong chip may or may not prevent it from turning on, no way to tell so better to put the proper one)

Schematic is avlbl for this board. So after putting correct bios and chips,as piernov has suggested, you should check the basic requirement of kbc is fulfilled or not. Do you have RSMRST on kbc??
