I have a Macbook Air A1466 820-00165 that will not boot with the battery plugged in, it will boot of the charger but only when the battery is disconnected. With both the charger and the battery connected I get fan spin for about 5 seconds before it shuts off. When powered off the charger with the battery disconnected everything seems to work fine. It boots into the OS sees WiFi both keyboard and track pad work it also doesn't have a chime I believe but that's for later on. I have both the BoardView and schematics for this board. If I skipped any info or you need any more details please let me know.

Try PRAM reset. If there's an EFI password set you'll have to remove it first.OpenBoardView — https://github.com/OpenBoardView/OpenBoardView -

Did you try another battery?
What happens with battery only, no charger?
What's the voltage on PPBUS_G3H, PP3V42_G3H with battery and without battery?OpenBoardView — https://github.com/OpenBoardView/OpenBoardViewComment

Re: Macbook Air A1466 820-00165 Won't Boot with battery installed.
PPBUS_G3H on battery 0.04v
PP3V42_G3H on battery 0v
PPBUS_G3H on charger 8.58v
PP3V42_G3H on charger 3.43v
PPBUS_G3H on battery+charger 8.58v
PP3V42_G3H on battery+charger 3.43v
It also looks like the battery did not get a charge overnight. Sorry if this info is useless I have very little experience working with macsComment

It looks like a dead battery to me, but first confirm the voltage on PPVBAT_G3H_CONN with battery only, charger disconnected.OpenBoardView — https://github.com/OpenBoardView/OpenBoardViewComment

by twonk9098I have read many forums that state the Macbook Pro 2015 needs / does not need a battery to boot. I'm not convinced as yet which is correct.
The Macbook Pro mid 2015 I have has no battery and do not really want to buy one just to test.
This model has the newer trackpad which is not clickable when turned off.
At the moment, without battery it does turn on with no display (with backlight), no chime and then turns off after 13 seconds. I see this from the power draw on my DTPS.
If I hold the power button whilst connecting the magsafe 2 charger it turns on, again no image but... -
by BowlineMy question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?
Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?
My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell... -
by trepachkaThis iPad was working fine except the battery was not holding charge for more than 40 minutes. I replaced it with a new battery. I haven't glued the battery yet, just inserted it into the slot and held it with battery screw.
The iPad was powered on with the new battery and I am getting white screen with Apple logo for about 10 seconds, then the screen turns dark. It then cycles like this forever.
I know the battery is working because the iPad continues to boot loop without the charger until it depletes to 0% and the message displays I need to plug in the charger.

by Ancient1Hi
I received such Laptop as junk. Opening it I saw a lot of whitish water residue , but no corrosion really ( few coils have small brown rust marks, no green copper ).
I cleaned all thoroughly and interestingly , its the Battery BMS board that has the real corrosion spots.. under the protective clear Goo !!
I want to try and power up the laptop
Battery is swollen. But I don't want to buy a new battery right now , of course .
I started work on the BMS by zooming in on green spots . 2 VIAs are filled with rusted copper goo - who knows...8 Photos04-17-2024, 12:46 AM -
by code shareHi everyone,
I'm having an issue with my Lenovo ThinkPad P43s. The laptop does not power on when the internal battery is connected, but it works fine on AC power alone (battery disconnected). Once the battery is reconnected, the system becomes completely unresponsive — no lights, no fan spin, nothing.
Here's what I've tried so far:- Power/EC reset (held power button for 60 seconds with battery and AC disconnected)
- Booted successfully on AC power only with the battery disconnected
- Visual inspection of the battery — no swelling, burn marks, or connector damage
