Ok so I got familiar with the Bios options of this laptop. And after some hours of getting a bootabl USB drive , I finally got to the Rufus site and created a bootable USB drive.
The MSoft DVD tool is not working (giving the well known error when chosen for the Winxx ISO file.
After a long time I figured out that the UEFI boot is different.Yes , the USB drive is formatted in FAT32.
So in the boot menu you choose the boot system - your usb drive.
Then in the new drop down menu >UEFI boot > underneath there are 2 buttons. The top button has 1 dot and the 2nd button has 2 dots in it.
Obviously , this corresponds to the DOS system - where 1 dot means that you are in the root menu/folder.
While 2 dots means you are in the subfolder.
Click on the 1 dot > UEFI menu > boot > then you will see some buttons with different tekst /symbols
Go to the button with (I believe) EFI_x64 .As I had Win7 64 bit on the USB drive.Click on EFI_x64 and it started to download the windows files.
After the 1st reboot I pulled the USB out of the laptop. It the continued to install from the hard disk.
Then came the part to install Win 7 on the HDD partiton.
I created a install partition (and the system created additional partitons like the MBR and the other partition - they are just some MBs big).
Now after formatting the partition it was a Primary partition. But then I got the message that Windows could not be installed on that partiton , because there may not be the correct drivers for the hardware !!!!!!
Okay , so I browsed for a folder where maybe the correct drivers were.I believe that I noticed that UEFI also had some sort of windows install folder.
Anyways I let it search in the boot folder and then in the support folder.Tried again to install on the Prim partition.Again the same message.
I browesed again now on the USB drive in the Win 7 ISO folder > in the boot folder and then in the support folder.
Got back again to install on Prim Part - no go ......
I choose the partiton and did another Format , and then hit NEXT again , and guess what , it started the install on that partition .... ))))
And it finished Win 7 64 bit install without any further problems ...
Now I'm downloading all the HP drivers - that is another crying game ....
But , hey , we're almost home now .......
PS the DVD drive is in order ....
