    MacBook Air 820-3437-B Power Cycles

    Hello, everyone!

I've got a MacBook Air 820-3437-B that's now power cycling. A customer brought it in with some light liquid damage to U7501, U1900, and R0960. I cleaned up all the damage and it seemed to clean up fine, I examined the affected areas with a microscope and it seemed fine. Before cleaning, it would show no signs of life upon turning it on, however the charger light would turn from green to orange. After cleaning, it just power cycles.
I tested U7501 and it's working properly (it is outputting both PP3V3_S5 and PP5V_S4), and U1900 is working properly (it is outputting PPVRTC_G3H).
I also ran it through an ultrasonic cleaner after cleaning it up manually and that had no effect.

Any advice on where to go from here?
    Thanks!

Re: MacBook Air 820-3437-B Power Cycles

Clarification: By power cycling, I mean approximately two seconds after I plug in the adapter, the fan spins for four seconds, then turns off for four seconds, then comes back on for four seconds and so on and so forth until I disconnect the adapter.
On a hunch I checked the current sense U7100 and they're good.

Also, here are schematics & boardview just in case anybody needs them

No idea but there may be 3 or 4 reboot like that in a row while the system is doing its RTC reset. No more than that.
Did you try an SMC/PRAM reset?

EDIT: oh, and try to replace U1900 with its crystal, a fucked up clock generator may show some strange behaviour

Check the JTAG connector and surrounding area .

I'm unable to run a PRAM reset because the computer never gets to that point, I would only be able to run an SMC reset.
I'll see about trying out replacing that clock generator and checking on the JTAG connector
                  Thanks for the advice!

Update: It magically started working again, I didn't even do anything. I suspect it may have had something to do with the SMC, as it had been sitting for a little while when I picked it up again

                      Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...

General question about MacBook power rails for repair.
                      by SarcasticOP
I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
                      • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
                        • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
                      • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
                        • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.
                      • PPVRTC_G3H (3.3V)

                      A2941 Macbook air 15” - 5V 0a
                      by obelix24
I’m working on one macbook air 15” m2 that was water damaged.

keyboard, lcd, microphone connectors were damaged so i’ve replaced all of them and without screen connected macbook worked fine. Keyboard &trackpad and also lid sensor was working fine.

i’ve put macbook in shelf and order new screen so i can fully repair it.

Now i got the screen and macbook stays at 5v 0a.

i’ve tried if it’s not in DFU with another macbook but it’s not detected at all.

i don’t have schematics so i don’t know where to start can someone help me?...
