Acer q5wv1 la-7912p rev 2 2012 no orange light not charging

powers on with wire or battery.

Current issue is

A: no orange light when battery is present while plugged in.
B: found 3 caps has short but short is not from caps need help to locate the short.

The red cap and other red cap near it shows short it beeps i dont think the cap is bad just need your help what part to replace or check.

Am newbie so please take it easy thanks

If you are not experienced in mainboard repair, it is possible you damage the mainboard and make it out of repair. Find a shorted point where there is a component with a label. In this way, you can trace the short.

These caps near coil in vcc are have normally very low resistance-so might show short but perhaps thats not the issue here. Since motherboard is working both on bateery and ac adapter-vcc area is perfectly ok.

You should rather check voltages on PQ9 and PQ10 to begin with. Note you should measure voltage with ac and batt both connected and check whether gate of both fets(PIN4) is working or not. Gradually check page 47 of the schematic.

Am using phone so viewing shematic is not easy this is why i would prefer an answer from you guys to tel me where to check pins etc .

Multimeter i connected black to gnd of motherboard and red to pins.

Pq9
All legs 19.1v

Pq10
Pin1 pin2 pin3 pin4 19.1v
Pin5 pin6 pin7 pin8 18.5

Pq11
All legs 18.5v
This was done without the battery being inserted.


Update with battery and charger
The readouts are same above.

I set 2v on dc power supply connected black to gnd and red to pd6 am not feeling any heat on parts using my fingers

Getting 19v on all pins means gate of mosfet is not working. Remove PQ8 and measure again voltages on pq9 and pq10

Pq8 removed

Pq9 reading pin1 20.9 then was counting down slow and now reached 11.9 and slowly counting down all pins.

Pq10
Pin 1 to 4 08.9v and slowly goes down was slow.
Pin5 pin6 pin 7 pin8 .827 counting down its not 0.827 it shows .827 and slowly counts down

It seems u are not measuring correctly. Pq8 is just protection circuit. Even after removal, you should atleast get 19v(which you was getting earlier)
