but there were no short on 3v and 5v rail..no short on LDo 3v, and 5V

I change Original ic from old motherboard. Why this happen.

I found some power Ic fault, some ldo short, Io bad, but this fault is rare.

Re: Which reason powe ic is over heat

If it is heating, there has to be some short. Need to check resistance to gnd on all pins of such ic. Always check whether ic becoming hot after removing SIO .

Re: Which reason powe ic is over heat

        For example tps 51125

first thing to check pin16-you have vin or not.
        pin 8/17 for vreg3 and vreg5
pin23 for 3v/5v power ok signal.

If all of these signals are present-likeliness of short is almost slim.

Check resistance to gnd of those particular pins where you are not getting the desired voltage though i prefer measuring all pins

          Moto G84 short after heat
          by ludovik
          Hello everyone,
i was reballing the power manger of a moto g84, after applying heat i tried to power on and it wouldn’t.
i injected 1.5v to some capacitor that seem in short because both side beep if tested.
          when i inject i feel the cpu burning;
since the cpu is exactly on the other side of the board, is that possible that the heat from the reballing damaged the cpu? do you know where i can find schematics or what can i do?
i know this is not enough to explain the situation so if you need any other info ask me please!
Thank you very much in advance

MacBook Pro 14" A2442 Short on PPBUS_AON but no short present when injecting voltage!
          by Stephen
I check PPBUS_AON and there is a short present on the line, the computer shows a short when testing for short to ground, so when I inject voltage into the line, I get 0AMPS so no short is showing up. I have replaced a blown cap on this board that exploded and tested for the short and it is now removed. Any suggestions? I tested voltage at the line when the fuses are connected and I am getting 1.2 Volts at the line.

Help me find the short circuit on this WORKING Nvidia GTX1650
          by aaronkatrini
          Hi all,

Recently picked up this GTX1650 at a local flea market for a low price and wanted to use it on my secondary PC. I first tested the card and saw the fan spin for a split second and then nothing. Immediately I thought of a short circuit. Disassembled and found a shorted SMD capacitor, injected voltage into it (1V/4A) and two Mosfets got hot immediately (QN3103 & QN3107). Desoldered these Mosfets and the card turned back to life.

Bought replacements from Aliexpress and replaced them afterwards. Tried the card but still the saw the fan spin for a split second...

9th Gen Dell Optiplex Micro PC motherboard repair: Short Circuit?
          by Geeker007
Hi All, I have a 9th Gen Dell Optiplex micro PC motherboard which doesn't power on. When I connect the motherboard with power adapter, it goes into safe mode and turns off. So from info I have gathered online, it looks like there is a short circuit on the motherboard. So can you guys help me with figuring out the issue?

I am new to electronics repair, so my queries could be naive but I am ready to learn.

So I have a multimeter and a solder with me. But I can try to get a variable voltage power supply with a thermal camera as well. From what I seen online, best way is...

Lenovo Thinkpad P72 EP720 NM-B723 MB - Power disabled within 2 seconds after plugging the charger
          by Mita99
          Hi,

Try to repair a Thinkpad P72 EP720 NM-B723 MB with I7-8850H processor and N18E-Q1-KB-A1 (P3200) GPU with 6GB memory. Unfortunately there is noinfo what happened to the laptop. I got it disassembled with parts missing, like keyboard, battery.

Unfortunately I have no schematic available for me (requested in the sub porum) but got the boardview file.

Symptom: after connecting to the charger the power led light up for one-two second and switch off. After a couple secons the power led light up for half a second and switch off. No battery, no IO board, no...
