well someone on here told me the file on hp is the update file not the full bios file, and i don't have much experience with bios dump files , i'm here looking for an advice not argument , thx however the laptop doesn't power on at all after replacing the bios chip it was powering on with caps lock error blinking code but after flashing the bios it doesn't turn on just has amber light on the battery and whatever you do this light doesn't change even if you plug the battery the light stay steady amber and , measured voltage on the bios chip there's are 3.3V on pins 1,3,7,8 and pin 4 is ground and i test it and it grounded , 19V coming on dc jack and power ic , there's voltage on the battery pins

I suggest you find a dump file on badcaps.net and write it on the Bios chip.

so i'm following what others have said on this thread .. does amd board have EC or KBC bios ? can someone pls answer this

you are right. this laptop needs an 8MBytes bios dump. but HP provided a 2MByes bios update which is not useful. So try to find a full bios dump of 8MBytes. Unfortunately, nobody provided it on the net yet.
you said it is an 8MBytes bios chip. I hope you are right. It is useful if you mention the full model of the bios chip. such as w25...

bios from mcplslg123 is working i already tried now maybe your issue is not on the bios you wasting your time for asking here and create two threads with the same issue.

hp6565b has 2MB bios...
mcplslg123 post full bios from site..it should be work even no dataDMI...
i give you backup from board
if this file not working too,So this is not bios issue check your programmer maybe corrupt file while writing, or change another bios chip , or your check your soldering

this 2MB file seems to belong to MX25L160, but he said he programmed a winbond IC. So maybe his mainboard is different or the mainboard has two bios ICs. It is great if he mension the full model of all the bios ICs on the mainboard and the mainboard code too.

i agree to makesure..

tried to reflash the bios to remove the user power on password , it is amd so i believe i just have to flash the main bios right away using the bin rom file from hp website ?? i tried that and all went good through my programmer and verified , then i went to solder the bios chip back to the motherboard when press power button laptop is dead . dpesn't turn pn at all . no lights except the power led light in the front when you get when you plug the charger . there's voltage on all bios pins except no voltage on pin 1 and 8 ??? what am i missing , please advice

the problem has move from the bios file issue??? pin 8 vcc must 3.3v

no backup , 8Mbit bios chip , file was 2Mbyte

8Mbit=1Mbyte

so the file must be 1mb

I dont think so this mb has 1mb bios size. As far as i remember, this mb has only one bios chip 2mb-but yeh not 100% sure as these mb hardly comes for repair these days.

Mobo has 2mb bios chip , pin 8 has 3.3V i measured it

thx for all the help , i returned the laptop to the customer as i gave up at this point . i don't use this forums much so i might have opened 2 thread by accident , how can i close them ?

replaced the bios chip after the customer bought it off ebay and all good now . thanks for all the help

Good day all, I have the same board HP 6565b (AMD) come up on keyboard while pressing cpslock/NumLock key but not display on screen and external monitor.
I've reprogrammed but bios same thing.
Kindly help.
