Re: laptop lcd white screen and no backlight
I recommend continuing with the white screen.
connect the white screen and turn the laptop on. then measure voltage on all pins of the LVDS connector on the mainboard.
then we can reach some conclusion.
is the external monitor displayed properly?Last edited by caspian; 09-18-2017, 04:44 AM.Comment

Re: laptop lcd white screen and no backlight
most of the times its fuse on lcd which goes bad(White display). Led no light might be a fuse/resistance or the controller itself.Comment

Re: laptop lcd white screen and no backlight
I have alreday clarified. If its Lcd, mostly its fuse blown Near Lcd connector on screen(Not on Mb). Applies only when the screen is milky white.Comment

by frannyjunkSo I have this Hisense tv where the backlight does not come on. But when it is turned on, when I shine a flashlight on the screen, I can clearly see the splash screen then it turns off. I looked at the mainboard and was expecting to see bulged capacitors, but they all look fine. I unplugged the backlight from the mainboard, and get the same symptoms (i.e. no backlight, dark splash screen then just a black screen). Is this just a backlight issues? Do Hisense tvs turn off by itself if the backlights are unplugged or are bad? Or is this a mainboard issue?
TIA. -
by harpTo ask here... I have few devices with white screen problem, actualy nokia 2220 and some fuji? camera, and try to understand what is common problem to cause that issue.
Yes, both devices work everything else probably ok, I mean, I hear intro melody and keypress click sound, DTMF tone, power on off... all ok.
On desk is nokia 2220 slide, and I check all screen connectors and components arround it, measure voltage drop, but all looks ok. I suspect on slide flex cable, but it look ok and white screen is not interupt while flexing board, pushing conectors, and sliding up down. In attachment... -

My name is Chris, I am a 30 years old embedded software developer working in the automotive industry. I am really passionate about learning new skills and repairing/crafting stuff. I came around this forum last week with the goal of repairing my faulty gaming laptop, indeed, I was video editing on it when suddenly a black screen popped and never disappeared
I bought some stuff to try to repair it and learn as many things as possible about computer repairs but nothing worked so far. When the black screen appeared, my legion 5 pro was connected to my external monitor...

by dicky96Hi guys, I have an old laptop here I'm just trying to fix for the fun of it really
The top part, maybe 25% or 33% of the screen display works, (DOS boot text or bios screen, I have no HDD fitted) but the bottom part is all white.
On an external monitor connected to the VGA the picture is good.
So basically I have a horizontal division, below which the screen is all white. There is no apparent damage to the screen or any vertical lines
I tried cleaning the pins on the LVDS connector plug/socket as thy looked a bit dirty (18 pins plus... -
by EffiSonHi. Could anyone on the forum help me find the cause of the problem?...
The board is LA-B111P Rev:1A comes from Lenovo Y50-70.
I have a identified the damaged R205 resistor, and connect a jump wire over it So it restores the backlight but causing strange problems
1. With Battery ONLY plugged in laptop works fine
2 .With Charger ONLY plugged in laptop works fine as well
3. Connecting both battery and charger at the same time shows a strange flickering screen. The flickering is not constant, it is completely random (and I think it depends on the load - Loading...
