    HP Pavilion DV7-1015eg Power issue

    Hallo everyone,

I have a problem with my HP Pavilion DV7 1015eg. The main problem is that when I press the power on button all LEDs blink for a split second and nothing happens. The LED on the power jack turns off aswell! I need to take out the adapter and hold the power button for 5 seconds put it back in and the LED of the jack lights up again. If i press the power button same happens, all leds light up for a split sec and nothing. When I connect the battery the charging led lights up and after 3-5s it starts blinking in 1Hz infinitly.

I took out the whole board from the case, took out cpu and ram too as well as fan heatsink and so on but still the same.

    Edit:
I desoldered the PL702 due to the fact that it was shorting 0.0ohms on both sides. Found out the the one leading to "+NVVDDP" is short to ground. (Maybe it is supposed to I am noob sorry).
I also took off PQ701, PQ702 and PQ703 in order to test those MOSFETs but all where in good condition (drain wasnt short with source or gate)
In another post I found a similar problem and there the solution was a dry joint at PL3, took a look at it couldnt see any dry joint but resoldered it without any success.

    Can somebody help me please?

I attached the schematics for my board: LA-4082P Rev: 1.0

    Cheers and thanks in advance!

Check the "VGA Core power" caps on page 20, you may have a shorted GPU. Make sure the resistance is indeed lower than 1ohm. A GPU power line will show a low resistance (a few ohm) even in perfect working conditions.

If you're lucky, it's only a shorted cap on this line. You'll need to inject voltage (less than 1V) on this line to find the faulty component. It'll be heating up.

        Hey piernov,

thank you for your reply. I am a bit noob, I put my multimeter on ohms autorange and put the sticks on each side. I tested it with C1098,C1099 and C1100 but it always says 0.0 like nothing.

I then took my dc power supply, put it to 0.9V about 3.5A, desoldered C1108 and attached the + to the board, attached the - to gound. Very strange is that I get 0.014V only when I measure both wires with my multimeter?

I really do not know whats happening?

in your schematic is only NB9P-GS - 9600M GT,
                      or NB9M-GE - 9200M GS/Quadro NVS 150M

                      where u have 1XXX series?
