    Unknown 10-pin connector on motherboard

    Hi. I start by saying I don't know nothing about electronics
    I was replacing a DC Jack on a netbook called Magalhães (based on Classmate from Intel) and noticed an unused connector (CN6) right below the keyboard connector (CN5). I don't have a photo but I can post one later when I get my hands on a camera. Here's one I found (not the best resolution), the connector is the black one below the big Intel NH82801GBM chip, right below that white keyboard connector and on the right of the ITE chip. This is what it looks like up close:

    Code:
       __ 1
     2-|oo|-<
      -|oo|-
      -|oo|-
      -|oo|-
     10-|oo|
    The "-" are solder points, the "o" are holes, the numbers are printed on the board and so is the arrow "<". The hole next to the 10th hole is empty (no metal contact inside) and has no solder point to the board. It measures exactly 10mm x 4mm and about 3.5mm in height, the holes are 1mm apart of each other.

    I thought it was a small USB connection, so I tried measuring the voltage between pins 2/8 and 1/7 but there's nothing. It does output 2.56v between pins 1/8. Didn't test anything else because I was afraid of damaging it. I never found any schematics for this netbook/motherboard. What could this be for?

    Any photos?
    Useful conversions. I don't "speak" imperial. Please use metric, if you want to address me.
    1km=1000m=100000cm, 1inch=2.54cm, 1mile=1609.344meters, 1ft=30.48cm 1gal(US)=3.785liters, 1lb=453grams, 1oz=28.34grams

      Re: Unknown 10-pin connector on motherboard

      I finally got my hands on a decent enough camera, here's a couple of photos of the motherboard (came out a little dark) and the connector:

      I've googled for info all afternoon and I found an English user manual for E09EI6 which is the same netbook as mine, so I searched and found Schematics for Intel E09EI6 that reveals the mistery:

      1x USB -> CN19 (wlan)
      1x USB -> CN12 (webcam)
      2x USB -> CN17,CN18 (external USB ports)
      1x USB -> CN15 (card reader)
      1x USB, 1x USB -> CN6 (Flash Disk) marked as option
      IDE BUS -> CN9 (1.8" HDD) marked as option

      In page 17 there is a diagram for CN6 where it shows what I needed:

      pin1 -> +5v
      pin3 -> data-
      pin5 -> data+
      pin7 -> gnd

      It also mentions 105mA, does that mean it doesn't have 500mA like the external USB ports? I was thinking of using it to power a 2.5" HDD that I'm going to connect to the 1.8" ZIF IDE with an adapter... and I would also need a male adapter to connect to that 10pin on the board so I could unplug it later and test the adapter on other boards, but I don't have a clue what to search for...
