• Re: Unknown 10-pin connector on motherboard

I finally got my hands on a decent enough camera, here's a couple of photos of the motherboard (came out a little dark) and the connector:

I've googled for info all afternoon and I found an English user manual for E09EI6 which is the same netbook as mine, so I searched and found Schematics for Intel E09EI6 that reveals...

  • Unknown 10-pin connector on motherboard

Hi. I start by saying I don't know nothing about electronics
I was replacing a DC Jack on a netbook called Magalhães (based on Classmate from Intel) and noticed an unused connector (CN6) right below the keyboard connector (CN5). I don't have a photo but I can post one later when I get my hands on a camera. Here's one I found (not the best resolution), the connector is the black one below the big Intel NH82801GBM chip, right below that white keyboard connector and on the right of the ITE...

  • Re: Toshiba Satellite - Locks up when plugged in

    Thanks for the input.

If I manage to ruin a 330 smd when dessoldering, can I use 6x220? Can I combine 2x330 + 3x220? Or it's better not to use the 220 at all?...

The service manual doesn't show a connector in that place, but it does show a shadow identical to the other connectors, it just isn't outlined.

Thanks for that info. I also have an Acer Aspire 1680 (aka Travelmate 4000) that doesn't output image though VGA or S-Video out due to a shortcut when it was connected to a TV, otherwise it works fine. It's also missing exactly the same type of connector on a different place, and I was already suspecting it could be used for a camera. I'll have to find some free time...

  • ´Could this be an internal USB port?

I've disassemble an Acer Aspire 1650 for a friend of mine to reball the VGA chip because it's showing random vertical lines/dots and doesn't work except with XP's default VGA driver, and I noticed a place where a 4pin connector could exist.

Could this be used as an internal USB port? I ask because this Acer doesn't have a camera, but I have a broken Acer with a camera and the LCD frame fits this one nicely. I tested pins 1+4 and it outputs about 3.4v....

  • Re: Toshiba Satellite - Locks up when plugged in

Hi, has anyone found a solution for those models without a NEC Tokin? I had a Satellite A200 in this situation but luckily I managed to replace the board with a working one from a very damaged laptop, so instead of a failing ISKAE LA-3661P rev2.0 with Intel graphics, I know have a ISKAE LA-3481P with ATi Mobility Radeon HD 2400. I was inclined to try and pry off the sATA connector from a dead board and solder it on the 2nd HDD bay with the missing connector so I could use it as my main computer (no money for a better one for now but...

Exactly that, a frozen image, it simply stops in time. Sometimes it even freezes during the memory test in the BIOS post, or inside the BIOS setup. It simply freezes, and I have to hold the power button for a few seconds for it to shutdown. I don't believe it has ever restarted. Sometimes it doesn't even get to the BIOS post screen, but holding the power button always shuts it down. It doesn't freeze when in battery, at least the 3 minutes it can hold......

It seems I can't edit my previous post, anyway here's an update: yesterday I ran on battery until the board powered off, then I plugged the AC, went to dinner and when I came back, turned it on and it worked until morning O_O

Tonight I repeated the process: let the battery run out, plug AC, leave it alone for around 30min, powered it on, and just finished installing Windows 7 without a single freeze!

OK, the problem is not solved, but at least it's usable until I find a more permanent solution. I'll take...

  • Re: Toshiba Satellite - Locks up when plugged in

Hello, I hope someone can help me. I have a Toshiba A200 that shows the same symptoms, works on battery (all 3 minutes of it) and freezes randomly when on AC during BIOS post, BIOS setup, Windows boot, etc.

The problem is: I can't find any Tokin OE128 or OE907 anywhere...

    Model: Toshiba Satellite A200-1AO PSAE0E-02101UPT
    Board: ISKAE LA-3661P rev2.0

I've attached a photo I found on Google, as my camera doesn't even come close to this resolution or quality. Just ignore...

  • Re: Asus Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee 1005HA

I managed to make a working netbook out of 2 non working Asus EeePC 1005HA.

The 2nd netbook has a broken LCD, damaged battery (doesn't charge on the working netbook) and no keyboard. If I use a charged battery it works fine when connected to an external monitor and USB keyboard, but it doesn't accept power from the AC charger.

It's missing the same component has in the 1st post, however it looks clean enough to make me believe there was never anything soldered in that place. This board is revision 1.3G. Maybe my problem...
