    Bluetooth USB antenna EXTENDER hack..quick question

    guys i have a Bluetooth dongle that has a weak signal, im trying to upgrade its antenna to an omnidirectional antenna, but i got stuck and dont know where to solder the main lead/wire to. Im posting schematics and photos to see if you can help me out.

    one end of the antenna track is usually connected to ground, the other end goes to a cap and then the chip.

    you need to cut the antenna and hook your signal & ground wires to the correct sides.
    that wire looks too big, it may rip the tracks off the pcb.
    you can put the pcb in a metal case like some 22mm water pipe, then put a wifi antenna socket on the end if you want to be neat about it.

      thanks for the input buddy. thats exactly my question WHICH CAP? the pcb has 4 inductors and 5 caps, but dont know if the antenna wire should be hook to the Rf p or RF n..should i remove any caps or cut any trace?

        Depending on your antenna, balanced/ unbalanced (bal/un=balun). Read pages 24, 25 of datasheet.
        Since you are using a coaxial cable, I presume you are still using a monopole antenna, i.e unbalanced, this is why you still need the balun circuitry. Recommend you to attach he coaxial pin according to pic after disconnecting the internal antenna without removing any other component. find a GND and attach the coaxial GND to it. Good luck

          attached coax wire to the copper part of the antenna, dont know if it makes any difference as connecting it closer to the cap, and i grounded to the out usb metal case....But still i cant get a reception more than 50 ft away from it.
