    Hp 255 +5VA Coil shorted

Hi im working with this machine , the costumers say the problem has occurred from bad universal charger.
Led of charge is on 3.3v on power button present but not power.
I have check it and the 5v coil when i plug charge go on short with GND.
    Measured TPS51123 :
    vin 19v
    vreg3 3.3v
    vreg5 5v
    trip1, trip2 0.7v
    NOW
    DRVH1 is shorted
    DRVL1 is shorted
Pin 2 of L308 is shorted when i plug adapter only .
    Replaced tps51123
replaced q317 also checked p309 and the same problem .
    Any suggestion?

How can you tell that pin2 of L308 is shorted when adapter is pluged? Did you measure resistance while power was on board?
...the quieter you become the more you are able to hear...

      Thanks for your reply.
The consume of current is normal also charge the battery .
With adapter on it i measured L308 have 8 ohm, L307 190 ohm.
I have removed L308 and from pin2 of L308 to pin1 of PAD 306 i have short with ground please see my pictures .
      Sorry for my english.

best way to do that is simple , remove coilof 5 vawl , the injecct 5 volts on the pad itself , and see what is gettng hot , what is getting hot , simple remove and replace , but before replacing , chek the pns of the warming component to see if there is no short there as well .

            thanks Highpulse.
i have tried this method yesterday, i have inject power with PSU 5v on shorted pin 2 of L308 but it warms slowly TPS51123 replaced again this chip with new one but the same short of 5v.
do you think i have to inject power on pin2 or pin1 of L308?

                    Hello:

I have both these laptops that appeared to have the same fault so I thought I would have a go at replacing the PCH as something to learn, they both are using the same PCH.

                    I started on the ACER:

Up on connecting power no signs of life but current is consumed from the bench power supply and the PCH is hot.
All the caps on the top of the PCH are showing 0 ohms and the 3.3v rail is shorted.

I followed the videos from Sorin, Electronics Repair School on Youtube heating from the bottom to install. I practised on around 10 scrap...

Hi every one. I just want to share the successful repair of my shorted Panasonic TNPA4782AB SC board.

I don't usually do it but so many parts were shorted that I decided to buy the ShopJimmy repair kit instead of sourcing each components individually. Here is the list of components the kit contained, with a remark indicating if I needed that part or not :

                    D608, good
                    D618 RF101L4S, good (See warning 1 below)
                    D619 RF101L4S, good (See warning 1 below)
                    D865 RF101L4S, shorted (See warning 1 below)

                    Hi to all,
the owner of this machine gave it to me after having opened it to take off the dust from the inside, telling me that after that it didn't start anymore.
I found that one of the DrMOS (AOZ5016QI) on the CPUCORE was shorted between VIN and VSWH, and that one of the two n-mos connected to the power jack was shorted aswell.
I unsoldered the two shorted components and verified that there were no other short circuits, then decided to power the mainboard, firstly with the lab power supply, then with its original HP 200w charger, but the behaviour is the same, the board starts...

                    Hi, Would appreciate some help.
I have an Apple Late 2013 15" A1398 MacBook Pro with Logic Board 820-3662.
Get charger light but no fan spin or chime. No liquid damage.
Found PPBUS and VCORE both shorted to ground. Other rails were ok.
Removed VCORE MOSFETS U7310, U7320 and U7330. Found U7330 was in fact shorted.
With the 3 MOSFETS removed, get PPBUS and fan spin. VCORE is still hard shorted to ground (0 ohms).
Attempted voltage insertion on VCORE to locate short using bench supply set at 1.0 VDC and 4.95 Amps (max current for my...

                    Hello, everyone!

I have some trouble with the G513-MP-GBM board, it's from an ASUS ROG STRIX G713IC-HX041W.

The total current consumption was about 200mA. The 0.8 Volt rail at the CPU was correct working.
But the power button has not been pressed...
                    I found some spurious solder between the pads 6 (VRA_SVT) and 7 (APU_PWR_EN) of the PWM-controller, "U66000".
Which can explain why this power rail has been starting without...
