    Testing and replacing soldered RAM.

    Hello again everyone.

    I am curious if anyone has tried to replace soldered RAM before, such as the RAM on a Macbook Air.

    I have a 2009 Macbook Air logic board that is currently bricked because of bad RAM (i.e. constant stream of 3 beeps on boot). I've considered the brute force method of replacing all the RAM modules, but from what little reading I've done I understand that you're more and more likely to break the board after each heating cycle. So this leads me to my next question: Is there a way to interface with the logic board to determine which ram modules are bad?

    Has anyone had any experience replacing soldered RAM modules before?

      I had a feeling it might not be necessarily RAM related. I have another MBA 2009 Board that works, but fails MemTest. This is could be a reflow job, then?

        hypothetical about replacing Macbook's pro soldered SSD

        Hi. Just a hypothetical question. As far as I know it's possible to replace/upgrade soldered SSD on a macbook, my question is where do you get one from and if it's possible to solder in let's say a generic SSD chip from some M.2 SSD?

        Macbook Pro A1706 820-00923 no power after replacing top cover and keyboard
        by johnbeton
        Hello,

        I have a A1706 with 820-00923-A board. The laptop came in with non-working keyboard. I bought a new top-cover with keyboard and transfered everything to the new topcover.
        Since then the macbook will not charge or power-up. Before replacing top cover, I started the macbook to test, and it worked fine apart from keyboard. Then shut it down and did replacement.
        This is what I measure so far:

        Resistance from F7000 to ground is 123 Ohm on pin 1 and 2

        PPBUS_G3H = 0,79v
        PPBUS_HS_CPU = 0,79v
        PPBUS_HS_OTH5V = 0,79v
        PPBUS_HS_OTH3V3...

        MacBook Pro 2018 with Activation Lock
        by envym
        Hi everyone!

        I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

        I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...

        Macbook Pro - stuck in 5V after replacing CD3217
        by ongobongo
        HI all,

        new member here, so hi to the community.
        I have a problem with a MacBook pro 13", A2251, board 820-01949, that is nagging me.
        The macbook had liquid spill and didn't work at all when i received it.
        I was able to get it back working by replacing a shorted cpu mosfet and a resistor on that line.
        It worked good after that with one fault: 3 usb ports worked as expected, one port didn't work at all, no voltage draw, nothing.
        The USB-on-board connector and the small usb-board of that port where both defective, so I replaced the on-board...
