Replacement Capacitor Value for NEC Tokin OE687

    Good Day!
May I ask what is the correct replacement tantalum capacitor for NEC Tokin OE687? I have already replaced it with 4pcs 330uf 2.5v, it powers up ok but still it could not install windows...Laptop model is samsung RV511..
    Thank you in advance...

Does it work better on battery power like the Toshiba laptops do? What are the full specs of the replacement capacitors. I think OE687 is 680uf.

Haven't tried that since battery is no good and needs replacement. It's 330uf 2.5v, 6mOHM ESR, according to the seller and since I'm not well versed on deciphering tantalum capacitor number coding, I'm not sure if it is accurate. I will post actual parts number of the capacitor I used tomorrow..

Anyway, if its specs are correct, will it be functional? Or maybe some other issue(s) are present on that motherboard that needs to be resolved, but where? What components are involved?

I have a background in basic electronics but still novice in more complicated issues..

      Thanks for the response..

The ESR is a bit too high, Tokin capacitors usually have around 1mOhm. Try with 6 of those caps you have and see if anything changes for the better.

          Thanks for the reply!
Can I use 220uF 2.5v? I have 4 pcs avilable which I have tried in this board previously...

Currently installed now is 330uf, 2.5v, will it work without issues?

Replaced the NEC Tokin with 4*330uF tantalum (not the best I know but that's what I had laying around) and 2*220uF aluminium, and it works perfectly fine. No longer BSoD or freeze while installing Windows 10.

4x330 is enough if they have low esr

Picked them up from another laptop motherboard, they weren't on CPU VCore. Didn't know their specs so I went safe and put 2 other caps.

4*330u tantalum for Toshiba, 4*470u tantalum or 6*330u tantalum for Acer.

Try adding another 2x 330uF or replace 330uF with 470uF. But first, try another CPU, maybe CPU got damaged somehow (although unlikely).

I first experienced this problem with Acer 6930G, some other shop had installed 4x 330uF and it would still crash. I put in 2 more and worked fine. I have been doing those with 4x 470uF since. I have done two 6930G and one 8930G until now, no problem.

I have a klipsch kda-500 that would turn on and allow me to get into the web management but it was picking up a lot of noise from audio sources so i decided to replace the smd caps on the power supply along with radial one. Some one was in here before me and they basically burned the bottom side of the traces off for the radial cap but i was able to repair it without any real problem. I thought i did a good job sourcing out replacement caps but apparently not and now i can't get the power supply to turn on it just constantly try's to keep turning on. Attached is a picture of the power supply before...

Capacitor has been discontinued (EGXF101ELL331MM20S) all of the replacements I have found have are smaller than 0.709" Dia (18.00mm). I would like to use the same size or at least close to the same size Capacitor. 19mm would be too big as they would touch and not be able to through hole mount. Tia...

Hi, I'm super new to this capacitor stuff but I've some basic soldering experience with old cellphones PCBs and headphones. I have this APAQ AR5K 820∆μF 3V Dc Capacitor from a motherboard that I'm looking to replace, photos I've attached. But I'm unable to find a 3V one like I've marked in the spec sheet in red (This is the one currently present in the motherboard). But the 6.3V one I can find (marked in blue) is of similar dimensions but different specs as mentioned in the table. Is it okay to replace it with higher voltage cap, slightly higher ESR, slightly lower ripple current, and double...

I have a damaged capacitor from a bootleg double dragon arcade pcb and I have the normal values from it:

10 volt, 100uF, 85c, but someone from an arcade forum said that the ripple current is not that critical and any good quality low esr cap would be fine, the damaged one is an electrolytic can type but I don't know what to look for as far as low esr is concerned, can a ceramic capacitor be used instead, the capacitor is going to the +5 volt

I don't know the brand but on the top of the capacitor is stamped "76 F6" if there is a datasheet ide be able to...
