Alienware 17 M17X - backlight ok, no video, ext works

Hello. I have an Aienware 17 M17x that I need some advice with. The backlight comes on, but there is no video displayed on the LCD. External video is fine from the HDMI port to a TV.

So I then took a spare LCD display panel from another laptop (HP G7.. lower resolution), hooked it up to the alienware laptop and it works fine. I then took the problematic panel and installed it on the HP G7 laptop and it works perfect!.

So both panels work on the laptop with the lower resolution graphics card in it (HP G7)...but the Alienware laptop will only show a video screen on the lower resolution panel which is (1600x900 part# LTN173KT01) The original panel that is not displaying video is 1920x1080, part# LP183WF1.

So is the higher res panel bad, or is it a problem with Alienware laptop itself?...this is a strange one...

any help would be much appreciated...

try downloading some game or benchmark tool (aida64 has stability test) and test the machine

if it crashes under load its faulty

Try to reflow the GPU. It will help to your problem.
