    About DM4-1155 and ATI 216-0774009

    Hello
I have on my hands a Pavilion dm4-1155 with an i5 and graphics ati5450 chip 216-0774009

It overheat a lot. I have try all even disabling ati in windows but none seems to resolve the issue.

Of course like most of the devices with a switchable GPU a have installed drives from HP to make right the switching

It have not reballed yet (I know because in this case the DM4 is mine)

I really can live without the Ati GPU and leave only the intel, that's I'm gonna extract the GPU 216-0774009 and try the DM4 without the chip.

If it does'nt work I'll buy a new chip

There is someone in the forum with a similar experience ?
Can the DM4 work without the 216-0774009

Sorry for my bad english and muchas gracias in advance

I don't think it will work, I think it will not even power up, but you can try.

Interesting. So you can see only Intel HD graphics?

I have experience that Asus M51Tr with IGP 216-0674026 HD3200 and disrete GPU HD3650 (dont remember the chip ID) could work without GPU on board, so it works with just HD3200. This could be similar

                    It works I swear

The ATI chip doesn't even appear of course in the hardware administrator. I can't guarantee the same procedure works in some other machine with dual graphics but for reballers could be a good idea creating a list of machines tested for it.

                      Works ALL of it.

ALL other drivers can installate ok and a new clean installation of Win7x64 run free of problems.

please can you explain more ?
what about Vcc GFX and reset signal and powergood and clock ati, you can ignore all of this ?
what about ec dump and bios dump are you making a change in all of this, i think it 's very hard to do all this thing, but if you can do this you are a good professionel, but you should prove this,

I dont know answers to your "what about" but I know that if there were more laptops with dual graphics working without chip ATI could be an easy and convenient way to repair them
