    Acer 5742

Hi my acer laptop is overheating so fast that I couldnt install windows .
Try everything change thermal paste ,clean everything ,change RAM ,its still overheating and shuts down .CPU get very hot in 5min even only in bios.Try put another CPU still same .Any help appreciate so Im guessing that only something wrong on motherboard ,visually I couldt see any damage on capacitors ,IC chip etc

Check the CPU voltage first on the motherboard. Then make sure the heatsink is making a good contact with the cpu. If yes try to heat up the heatsink and check the heatpipe(s) if the heatpipe(s) are good then you should feel the hot immediately at the other end of the heatpipe(s).

Hi sounds like crack heat pipe or fan isn't running or heat sink is not setting flush on chip

                Re: Acer 5742

no damage. maybe some of capacitors is bad and overheating the power rail components. measure voltage and resistance of cpu power rail

                  Heatpipe without gas?
                  Fan not working?
What are the temperatures by software? Do they sound real by hand?

                    Re: Acer 5742

temperature reading is 64c idle and after playing video go to 90c and switch off
fan working ok ,also I touch the cpu and heat is real ,maybe heatpipe because air from fan is cold
