Acemagic /Nipogi AM06 Pro . Front USB Type C No power

I’m troubleshooting a Nipogi AM06 Pro mini PC (5500U model, also sold as the Acemagic AM06 Pro). The unit generally operates without issues, but the front-facing Type-C port fails to deliver power to any connected peripheral.

I purchased the system new, so I can’t confirm whether this port was functional at any point. It’s possible the port was miswired during manufacturing. Notably, I did once inadvertently connect the Type-C power adapter to this port, which could have resulted in electrical damage.

To investigate further, I disassembled the device. My experience includes multiple previous hardware repairs, so I felt comfortable proceeding. I traced the Type-C connector’s voltage pin to a capacitor highlighted in red and to a suspicious component in blue (possibly a diode), both visible in the attached image. The Type-C connector itself appears at the bottom center of the photo. At this stage, I’ve been unable to trace the voltage pin any further downstream from the port.



I got out my cheapo microscope to have a closer look at the mystery component, outlined in blue . The text looks like JF N1FL or JF N1FL or something similar . My educated guess is this is at fault . However I have not yet identified it .

Just to re-iterate the Device works, and the problem is a a faulty USB port . If someone could simply identify the below component, this would be a great start

If this part is silk screened as the U16 then this is an IC. Perhaps a PD controller for the local USB-C port. Is this part still onboard? If you are comfortable with the idea, flux and remove it if you are confident it is defective. Perhaps this is a WLCSP packaged PD controller. Once the part is removed, it will require to be reballed to solder this same part back onto the board so you will require a SMD stencil. Alternatively, need a fresh part of the same with factory supplied BGA solder balls. Suggest to pour some IPA alcohol onto the topside of this part to enhance the SMD markings. From a distance, appears to be 'N1BL' but no matches so far...
