Burned DC jack - worth a try?

    Hello!

Got this Mobo from a friend, it has a burned trace near the DC jack.
it works, but when turned on , it smells burned normal.

It's the first one I get like this, does it worth to change the DC jack or how to treat this mess?

    Thanks for your inputs!

    Cheers

Well if I was in your spot, I would replace the jack and after lifting put some fresh solder mask on the burned spot.

well just work the board like in a rock mine , with a dremmel start removing layer by layer but at same time you must leave a bit of visible layer , in case there is a hole on the board , just saved a ASUS board this weekeend like this , in the end the hole had 9mm wide , but board works fantastic

          Eheheh ... nice job HighPulse!
Got any pictures of that job?

When you say removing layer by layer, you mean removing the burned part?

          Thanks!

mather in fact i dont , since machine left for client , but imagine that a board have several layers , bottom top and 3 to 6 layer on the midle of baord , they all have very small distances between each outher , around 0.1mm to 0.25mm , what i did is , started removing the fiber part on the top ( in my case first i removed major part of VCC layer on top and botton for i can room to work the layers , after having a good range to work with , started removing with the dremel the fiber around the hole , removed until reach near 2mm of the top and bottom VCC , when i start seeing the inner layer above the top one , start consuming its cooper until there is not cooper to see frmo that layer , and removed a bit on the sides as well (because the smokes comes frmo layer touching on each outher generating shorts) so you must do things like the ROCK mines , let me chek a picture for you can get the point of my idea(well its a rudimentar pictures but yuo can get a idea how i solved my problem after each layer you work , with the multimeter , chek with continuity between ground and VCC , if you GOT value 1 , then it must be 100 without short , now attention , if it dont BEEP , but you have a value like for ex , 655 its not ok yet , you must clean well until you have certain all is good . when you got no longer short , i advise to insert in the hole a good non conductive epoxy glue and let it rest for 3 hours at least , then , chek if you have still places for the DC jack pins , if not , you must make some wire work and thats it

Samsung UN55FH6030CXZA main board USB jack indentification
              by valvashon
Samsung UN55FH6030CXZA main board, BN41-01894, bad USB jack. Jack is mangled and needs replacing with like. Jack is marked "Simula" with the number 130318. Search for Simula turns up a weak looking website of a company that seems/seemed to supply USB jacks and other USB technology but no current items turn up for sale.

I should be able to research and find something applicable through a Digi-Key search after I unsolder/cut out this one and measure the mounting/pin connection pattern on the board but I thought I'd ask here to see if anybody knows of an exact make/model...

Need help to replace burned resistor in 350w atx psu
              by mikey5791
              Hi to all forum members,

Got this faulty 350 watt atx psu dirt cheap from a local online seller as i am keen to use it as a learning tool to repair faulty power supply.
The faulty part is quite obvious from the burn area near the 16pin KA7500 BD pwm. The fuse is still intact with good continuity.

Upon power on ac, there is 5vdc standby power on cathode of diode D14 and about 10vdc on cathode of diode D13.(This should be the aux power to generate the 12v and 5v rail.)
Initially i replace the two burned resistors near my marked red arrow to 200 ohm resistor...

Dell XPS 15 7590 audio troubleshooting

Hello guys. After googling for 3 days and being unable to resolve the audio issue for some time I was looking for the schematic and I found this wonderful website.
It all started from sound just disappearing at some point that I even forgot when. Why did I forget? Because even though speakers and 3.5mm give no reaction whatsoever it works properly with type-c earplugs so I kinda kept using it like that. Now that I was doing an overhaul with repasting, changing pads and battery it struck me, hell, why not look for the sound issue? So here I am, after trying every possible software solution...

              3.5 mm headphone jack missing
              by paparazzo79
              Hi guys,
I purchased used MSI GE 73 Raider laptop used from a guy. When laptop came home I noticed that there is no "golden circle connector" on the headphoner jack (pic below).
I contacted the seller, he told me like it was there and it probably fell off.
I am not dumb, is he lying to me or it is possible that in the shipping it really fell off?
Oer laptop is missing whole connector.
The headphone jack works normally,I have tested it with headphones....

Dell 5590 LA-F412P does charge with USB-C not with DC-Jack
              by diamon
As mentioned, I have a Dell 5590 laptop with motherboard LA-F412P.
This laptop works with the USB-C charger and not with DC-Jack charger.
With the USB-C charger attached, the battery is charging and in the BIOS the charger is also recognized.

With the DC-Jack charger attached (USB-C charger removed), the light of the charger is not going off and the BIOS does not see the charger (message AC Adapter = Not installed). I'm using original Dell chargers and I have tested the used chargers on other Dell laptops and they are working correctly.
              I have replaced the DC-Jack,...
