    Macbook Pro A2289 - 820-01987 - Low ALL_SYS_PWRGD

Hi all, I'm working on an an A2289 which had a previous spill that was repaired. Now upon turning on the only signs of life are the trackpad and fans spinning. I succesfully performed a DFU restore, but after completion it did not boot into recovery mode and display still is not turning on (It didnt turn on during the DFU restore, as I believe you would expect to see the apple logo at some point?).

I have removed the logic board as well as the usb-c charging port and plugged the charger in and taken the following readings, which show that ALL_SYS_PWRGD is low at 1.78V. I took measurements of all the rails up to that, per the 'Power Sequence' page of the attached schematic (Boardview also attached). Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I currently take the remaining measurements in the sequence

ALL_SYS_PWRGD is OK @ 1v8 due to the pull-up resistor @ R8005. This logic line operates at 1v8. With this status, the voltages being monitored are OK.

I see, thanks Mon. I'm now focusing on the CPU rails that are presenting 0V. In light of PPVCC_S0_CPU being 0.8V and being produced by U7210 and U7210 I'm Currently reviewing the datasheet for those chips to see if there are any issues with those.

Sorry, I meant PPVCC_S0_CPU which is produced by those two chips and is low at 0.8V, not the video related power rails! I have edited my initial response to reflect this. However, Mon you mentioned the voltages being monitored seem okay, so I will progress with measuring the remaining rails in the power sequence and see if there are any issues with those.

            Macbook Pro A2289 MXK62LL/A (661-14770) - No Startup
            by Flasman90
Hi everyone - first time poster on here looking to embark on my first repair! Thank you in advance for any help!

My Macbook only turns on when the charger is plugged in and only the trackpad and fans show signs of life. The display, caps lock light and touchbar do not turn on. There was previous liquid damage to the touchbar but after cleaning and drying the laptop was operational for a year without any issues. There doesn't seem to be any sign of liquid damage to the board, at present.

What I have done so far:

            - All of the routine diagnostic methods including...

            A2289 - 820-01987 - Dead?
            by alexruehr
Hey guys, just troubleshooting a MacBook Pro A2289 with the 820-01987 logic board.

No fan spin, no booting, device not getting detected by the Apple Configurator.

Did a few basic things, the board gets to 20V USB supply according to my USB tester, F7000 fuse seem to be ok and not blown.

Board draws about 0.5A for about 10 seconds, after that it goes down to 0V. Found an n channel FET (Q4830) in the backlight supply(?) that could to be blown (pictures below), not quite sure about that, but t assume that should not be relevant, because I was testing the board...

MacBook Pro A2289 (820-01987-A) No boot/image, but boots to DFU
            by baglaivlad
Hi everyone. Just a reminder I am not a professional repair technician, fixing Apple electronics is my hobby.

Recently got my hands on MacBook Pro A2289 with interesting behavior. Pristine condition, no water damage, no visual issues whatsoever. It has no image, no CapsLock, no life except the fan is spinning. But it is able to boot into DFU and recognized by another MacBook. I tried to revive and restore the laptop, but the process ends when the MacBook usually should show an Apple logo with a progress bar. I assume the main power lines and T2 are working. It seems like the Intel...

            MacBook a2289 water damage

Hello to all ! I follow you but this is first time write !!
your forum is the best !!
so I’ve a2289 with water damage ! In first time other friend have clean and work ! But after some time stop working !
now, I open the MacBook and I see a lot of corrosion near backlight circuit (I attach some photos about that ) I think the problem is on backlight maybe bcs do strange boot then reboot (attach video ) I change some thing on the circuit like :
            q8400
            q8401
            D8410
            and the resistor R8431

            if I check PPVIN SOSW LCDBKLT_R I’ve 12,9v
            on...

            MacBook Pro A2289 No Power
            by jasonr2000
hi guys I have a 2020 MacBook Pro A2289 it has the i5 CPU and is now acting as if its dead,

when I plug in the charger cable with a volt meter thing connected as well its drawing 20.3v and 1.11A

if I press the power button nothing happens.

but if I hold the power button for 7 seconds or more the voltmeter drops all the amps down to 0.00A but voltage stays the same.

any ideas where I can check ??

from what I can gather it must be charging the battery at 1.11A as nothing happens when the power button is pressed. I can successfully...
