Lenovo Y50-70 only charges when turned off.

I have a Y50-70 gaming laptop. It has a problem where it charges up fine when the laptop is off, but when it's on, it doesn't.
I've tried a new 135w charger + new Lenovo battery and a new charging port but it made no difference.

I've updated all the drivers and still no difference.

Could it be down to a dodgy chip? I'll see if i can find a schematic and someone on here might be able to direct me where to test

    Many thanks in advance.

I found the problem. Somebody had previously changed the charging port. However on closer inspection and with help from a boardview, the manafacturer of the port had wired it incorrectly. One of the ground wires was wired where a data line should have been and the data line was wired into where the ground should have been. Charging perfectly now

The Lenovo Y50-70 laptop charging only when turned off indicates a potential issue with the power management settings or a hardware problem. It could be related to the "fast startup" feature, the power management settings within Lenovo Vantage, or a hardware problem with the battery or charging port.
Here's a breakdown of potential causes and solutions:
      1. Fast Startup:
      • Fast startup can sometimes interfere with charging when the laptop is off.
      • Solution: Disable Fast Startup in Windows power options: Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable > Uncheck "Turn on fast startup".

Thanks for that. Unfortunately my laptop is not in airplane mode so the problem continues. I think it's probably a motherboard issue which I'd like to get to the bottom of.

Enter the BIOS - what are the stats of the mated power adapter?

              3. Locate AC adapter information
              • Within the relevant section, look for entries such as "AC Adapter," "Battery Information," or "Power Management".
              • You may see information about the AC adapter's status (detected, not detected) and possibly its wattage.

Very nice. Most adapters are intelligent now. The bios often can serve as a confirmation of what the logic sees or does not see. Suspecting that the adapter was assumed to be under rated due to missing adapter ID line.

Lenovo Thinkpad E14 Gen3 stuck on "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter" screen
                    by BMCappelletti
                    Hi everyone.
Lenovo Thinkpad E14 Gen 3, stuck on the "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter" screen.
Found a lot of people with this issue, but with no definitive answer. Some people managed to get away accessing BIOS, going to Startup and turning off "Option Key Display". For me that only removed the interrupt normal start up message, leaving only the Lenovo logo.
Most people say hitting Enter does not work. It's true, if you wait a few seconds. But if you hit Enter right away you get the options to enter BIOS (which works), run diagnostics (goes to a...

                    Laptop Question
                    Hello,
I'm working on a Lenovo T460 that has been having trouble charging as of late. Its worked well since I've owned it for a few years. When I went to use it the other day it was dead and wouldn't turn on (was sitting on an Anker 65W GaN charger). After some fiddling with the charger I got it to turn on and start charging, but seemed like the charger was not working as it should (took a few plug and unplug cycles to get it to start charging).

A day later it was dead again and wouldn't boot/charge no matter what I did. No lights or anything when...
