dell latitude 3330 no video at lvds. works fine on vga. the screen definitely works as i tried it another laptop. any pointers?

try another panel. if not working, test signals on your lvds cable

can you test the signal on lvds cable on SDA and SCL with a scope?

i don't have another panel i can test with. how would i go about checking the signals on the lvds output? how do i know which signals are right/wrong?

Thank you all for the help but i gave up on this. Pins at lvds are too close to each other and extremely hard to test. Even strapping a needle to my test probe didn't help. I still can't find a datasheet for it and the one cyberhack posted doesn't quite match up.

I know you have given up, the data sheet was just to give you a start how lvds work.i use a bench microscope not that model but close to it.

I'm in the process of buying a scope also. Even though i give up on stuff i always ask myself "why did i fail?" and "what can i do to help if i meet this problem again?" and the answer was a bench microscope. thanks for the suggestion.

Did you test the lvds cable for continuity . i hear what you say about small pins
but doesnt matter as much if they are not powered - perhaps faulted at the kink between main body and screen?
Any fuses on boards at either ends?

i tested with a screen and cable that i know works. i got both from another working laptop. didn't see any fuses.

it is almost funny how helpful this community is. even after i've given up and said let it die i still continue to get helpful suggestions. nice environment here
