Help Identifying IC on MacBooks Pro - 820-02020

    Subject: Help Identifying IC on 820-02020 (MacBook Pro A2338 M1, 2020) — C02045500 / EKQ8LL1A

    Hi all,

    I'm working on a MacBook Pro A2338 M1 (2020) with logic board 820-02020.

The machine has a power issue — not powering on, and I'm trying to trace the fault.

While inspecting the board, I found a cluster of components

This area looks damaged or burned — there are about 4–5 components that seem affected

I've attached a close-up photo of the chip and its surrounding area (see below). I'd like to know:
    • What is the function of this chip?
    • What is the reference designator on the board (e.g., U0500)?
    • Is it a known power rail/PMIC/USB-C controller?
    • Any known common failure points or related measurements I should check?

There's obvious visible damage or corrosion,

Any insight from those familiar with M1 boards would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Thank you so much martyjelen for the info! Really appreciate you taking the time to help.

Just one quick question, do you think only UR600 is likely defective, or could the other surrounding components (some of which look slightly discolored) also be affected?

I want to be sure before ordering or replacing parts.

        Thanks again for your insight!

One cap near amp looks burned to me. But maybe I'm wrong. Better test it.
