    Boardview for iPad Pro 12.9" Gen2 A1671

    Hey!

I have a iPad that doesn't start. I tried replacing the Tristar chip and I don't know if I ripped the pad or if it went with the chip but I would really like to know where that pad leads so that I can put a jumper on it.

I have the tristar chip next to the pads oriented as it should be if that helps any.

    Thanks

If lower right corner in your pic is ball A1, then the missing ball pad is D1.

You can study other ipad schematics and boardview files to learn about this A3B tristar device.

See attached. Taken from ipad7 schematic & bv files (820-01686).

      Hi,

I really appreciate trying to help but I'm not sure what to do with this information? I still need to now where to run the jumper on this specific board.

          Wow thanks pal!

Lol turns out the pin is a noconnect. Makes sense that it would rip easily.

Apple iPad Air 2 (A1566) - Seems to be power cycling, no display, new battery/Tristar
            by Aimbit
Using an ammeter, original battery was only taking 90mA or so... then down to 0, up to 90mA, down to 0, etc, in a repeatable pattern. This iPad was very old, so first thing I did was swap the battery for a good one, and it came pre-charged. The old battery had negligible voltage.

Now the iPad go up to about 1.5-1.6amps charge, then it drops to 0 after a few seconds... rinse/repeat as before. I tried changing the Tristar chip to see if that would help (and also my first real BGA chip!) but it seems to make no difference. Where should I look next?

            I should poke around the...

I tried searching the forum for whether this has been uploaded already, but couldn't find them (as a collection).
Here's a dump of a bunch of iPads, I've split into 2 archives to get under file limit

            iPad Pro 12.9 2nd Gen A1671 - 1mA No Power, No Charge
            by KappaDev
            Hi all,

I have a 2nd generation iPad Pro 12.9" Model number A1671. I don't usually work on these, but I suppose today is the day I start. Apologies for any ignorance on tablet matters. On Type-C to USB amp meter, showing 5v @ 1mA
(0.005W) then instantly to 0mA back and forth. Power draw is the same with and without screen and with and without battery connected. Of course, not enough current for anything to show on thermal camera.

I can't find any boardview and I'm not certain it even exists. Probing coils on top side of board reveals no voltage present...
