Could the battery be old? If available, suggest to simply replace the battery and test again.

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...arging-circuit

Start with the above article. Share more details of your laptop with full markings on the logic board. Ideally, link the schematic if one is available but only inside the dedicated schematic forum.

Plan B is to try to convince piernov to do an onsite repair. We have been trying for years...

Plan C is to continue this thread for more assistance. You will need a multimeter; soldering tools if parts need to be replaced; tweezers; flux; solder and patience.

Be sure that your power adapter is suitable for charging. Any liquid damage? What is the history of the unit?

Battery Seems fine as it is working on battery as well.
gone through schematic but couldn't diagnose the problem.

Remove all power. Meter in resistance mode. Measure the resistance from pin #1 to pin #2 on the charger IC at pub01. Measure directly at the charger ic pins.

What is the resistance in ohms?

Next, touch your meter probes together and share this 0 ohm measurement. This is your baseline of the lowest measurement of your meter. Need this value to gauge the others.

Not understanding the posted values. Can you share a pic of the front face of your meter? Be sure that you are in resistance (ohms; omega Greek symbol) mode on the dial.

Then touch one meter probe onto pin #1; other probe on pin #2 - the meter will report the resistance measurement for the path between these 2 points of initial interest. The measurement will be in ohms.

This resistance is ok and is the battery charger current sense resistor path.

Can you confirm the details of your power adapter? Is it the USB type C or standard barrel style power adapter? Regardless, they are of the Dell brand or another?

Are you able to power with only the power adapter? (no battery)

It is Original standard barrel style power adapter. i have checked with another adapter as well.
I can power on with power adapter ( No Battery) and also only with battery.
                  Just the battery doesn't charge.

When you use the barrel style power adapter - what power rating of this adapter does the BIOS show?

About to take in my nightly Netflix binge watching but after the above check...test the voltage to ground of the PSID pin on the barrel jack connector @ PL3 ferrite bead.

Dell uses the 1-wire communication spec by Dallas Semiconductor / Maxim / Analog (in this order of who owns whom) - and this PSID line is used by the EC to determine the power rating of the Dell official power adapter. You cannot sub another unless it is 100% compatible with Dell.

If this line is missing, the power adapter will be assumed to be wimpy and the charging feature will fail and most likely will throttle the speed of your CPU. The BIOS will confirm what the adapter is or is not.

it is being Detected as original 180W charger in bios. i have replaced the charger as well but same issue with another charger as well.
                      Getting 19.5 volt.

Is the battery the original and proper model for this laptop?

                          by Robocop
                          Hey guys,

I've seen several questions about this exact issue, but I've never found the fix, so I would appreciate if we can start over the whole debugging process again from start to finish, for my specific issue.

In the BIOS setup, (see pic) the AC adapter is detected with the correct power rating, the battery is stated as charging (when plugged in, of course), and the battery health is stated as "Excellent" (as expected, since this is a brand new battery purchased a couple of weeks ago). However, the battery never charges (the percentage never increases)....

Looking for some help with this one if anybody can assist please? I have an HP Probook 470 G4 Laptop which recently started to intermittently failing to turn on, with intermittent white LED light(charging LED) by the charging port when it should have been charging and showing an orange LED instead. Definitely some sort of gradual failure. Now the laptop fails to power on at all, no charging LED, no Power Button LED either - seemingly dead.
Stripped down to the bare motherboard. The original HP battery, when disconnected from the motherboard, is reading 0.00v - possibly some sort of protection...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                          by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...
