    Dell XPS 9343 LA-B441P

    Hi,

I would like some help on my wife's laptop Dell XPS 9343 with LA-B441P motherboard.

AC adapter is not recognized so I bought another used one and still the same !

It was of course working with the old one the bios was saying 45W adapter but now it says adapter unknown.

I don't know if the used one is also defective or it's a motherboard issue.

I have already repaired this laptop to give it to my wife (the PD102 TVS was bad).

For now what I checked :
    - If i measure old adapter the center pin measure nothing in diode mode so I think the wire it's cut somewhere (so it's normal the laptop does not recognize it). 19v is ok because the laptop can start but not charging battery and the laptop is very slow

    - I measure the used adapter I just receive and the center pin measure 0.280 in diode mode

So here the voltages on the motherboard when adapter is plugged (the new used one)

The voltage on PQ100 on pin 1 and 3 is quite low 0.6v ! I think we must have 3.3v here ? Pin 2 is 5v

So I desoldered PL102 to isolate each part and now I have 3.3v on PQ100 (pin 1 and 3)

So the only part on the other side of PL102 is the center pin so what does it means ?

If I put 3.3v on center pin of the ac adapter with my power supply the current is 8mA.

I replace PD102, PQ100 and PQ101 but still the same.

Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english I am french.

To me, the fault appears to be a mechanical issue with the dcin power jack.

Leave PL102 off the board. Attach the power adapter but do not plug into the ac wall socket.

Test the center pin in diode mode using the PL102 pcb pad. What is the measurement?

If the AC adapter draws 8mA the voltage will collapse, no point in troubleshooting a board without a known good genuine Dell AC adapter.
However a resistor needs to be connected between the supply voltage and the 1-wire ROM, otherwise the 1-wire ROM will try to short full current to ground to send data.
That said it's also common for PR103 to be damaged.

So I remove PL102 and in diode mode red on ground and black on PL102 pad (side of the center pin) I measure 0.165 same if I measure directly on the adapter center pin so good connection from PL102 pad to center pin.

I will try to replace PR103 even if the value is 33 ohm on the board.

I think the used ac adapter I bought is faulty too

              Dell XPS 13 9343 boardview
              by sauce
              Hi,

I am trying to repair a Dell XPS 9343 motherboard and I think I found a faulty Mosfet (PQ201).

But I have another problem 2 components are missing (PL104 near DC jack connector and another capacitor near PR202).

I have only the schematic so I can't figure out what is the value of the capacitor because there is no marking on PCB for this capacitor.

So I would like to know if someone has the boardview of this card (LA-B441P).
It's only for my personal use I would like to keep this laptop for me.

              Thank you.

XPS 13 9343 Identify burn motherboard component
              by warguello
Hi, please I need your help with a serius problem, months ago my Dell XPS stopped charging, I tried all the recommended methods (try original charger, power connector cable, drain battery) but nothing worked. finaly I disassembled the motherboard and discovered that near the "PQ101" there is a burned component, but I cannot identify it to replace it. I leave a couple of photos, maybe you can help me. thaks a lot.
I am not an expert in electronics, and less in integrated circuits. When I tried to clean the surface of the component, it disintegrated a bit....
