Asus ROG Strix 17 (G733ZX) Laptop Power Issue

I've had the laptop for about 2 years now, and lately, it has been acting weird whenever the AC adapter is plugged in. The issue is that when the AC adapter is connected, the charging often gets disconnected. This frequent connection and disconnection interrupts whatever activity I am doing, as it causes the laptop to underclock. At one point, the laptop even stopped charging with the AC adapter plugged in.

When I try to use the PD in one of the USB-C ports, it charges just fine. The only downside is that I can only get about 100W of power since that's the maximum it can take, so I cannot use the laptop for heavier tasks as I should be able to.

I was hoping that someone has experienced the same issue as mine and could guide me through the troubleshooting process. I tried changing one of the MOSFETs near the DC jack port, but it only worked for a few tries before the symptoms reappeared.

Consider to review the mosfet that was replaced.

What was the original mosfet part # / topside markings? Which mosfet was used for the replacement? If the mosfet was underrated then the replacement can become defective over time.

Also review the DCin jack / connector. Perhaps it needs to be replaced if loose.

The original part was a PKCH2BB, as indicated in the schematics for the G533 boards. The replacement I used has the same capacity, but I'll switch it with the original brand once my parcel arrives.

I can rule out the DC jack as the issue, as I tested the laptop, and it's receiving 20 volts. However, there's no charging indicator, so I believe the problem lies elsewhere.

Can you link or post the schematics? Do not post here but in the schematics section of the website.

This machine has an AC adapter detection mechanism. Reading 20V is not enough. Also if the machine tries to pull more power than the AC adapter can supply, or if there is high resistance in the DC-in jack, that's what happens. So AC adapter and DC-in jack are still suspects, as always.

Thank you for your advice. I'll attempt to replace the DC jack since the AC adapter seems to be functioning properly; I've tested several AC adapters and they all show the same charging behavior with the laptop. My another suspect is the mosfet that connects to the DE_JACK_DETECT I see some potential burn marks.

                Just an update:

So I have replaced the DC-in Jack as suggested and now the laptop works perfectly.

Apart from the burned mosfet, never thought that replacing the dc jack has an effect as well.

                  Hello Guys

I have a ASUS Rog strix laptop that I bought recently to fix and the previous owner spilled water on it . He brought it into a repair shop for them to check it out and instead of fixing it they damaged the battery connector of the laptop ! Other than that they damaged damaged nothing . But since the liquid damage the laptop only turns on and the keyboard lights up and then immediately turns off. I really want to repair this laptop and I also have experience in repairing phones etc and laptops and a bit of soldering but the diagnosing part is where I need help with and...
