    MBP 15 2018 A1990 Water damage

Here's what happened: water entered the connection between the screen and keyboard of my MacBook Pro. The power button has stopped functioning. I have to resort to using the charger to turn on the MacBook.

Furthermore, even when connected to the charger, it's challenging to turn it on, as after about a hundred attempts, the MacBook starts charging from one of the ports and only then powers up. I've changed outlets and cords, yet it seems like the MacBook randomly chooses when to recognize the charging.

After several hours of inactivity, the MacBook cannot be quickly turned on by opening the lid. Instead of a swift startup, the Apple logo appears, and the boot-up process is akin to turning on the MacBook after a prolonged power button press.

Additionally, in the battery settings, a message "service required" has appeared.

But now MacBook doesn't boot up anymore.

USB C meter shows stable 20v and unstable low amount of current like 0.003A-0.129A.

I cleaned come corrosion but some really small amount is still around capacitor CA903, I could not clean it totally with isopropyl and cotton buds. Also I located only 2 very small corrosion areas.

    MacBook Pro 2018 - A1990 Dead - not charging - only 5V
    by robka
    Hi,

    my MacBook Pro 15" 2018 Touch Bar (A1990) doesn't charge anymore. Board# 820-01041-A

I'm not experienced in diagnostics, but I want to try to solve the problem with your help, because every local shop charges around 600€ (650 usd). Which is the value of the whole Macbook.

The Macbook was charging when suddenly the "charging sound" appeared every other second for around 4-5 times.
After that the Macbook was dead. It isn't charging anymore.

The USB-C Port where the charger was plugged is burned. Also The Cable and the...

Macbook A1466 820-00165A heavy water damage but working with "flashing" screen
    by dbuergi
    Hi all,

i got a A1466 with serious water damage. I was able to clean the whole board and only found a fuse with a coroded trace. Cleaning and resoldering did the job and the macbook started normal but after some time the screen began "flashing" like turning on and off while the Macbook was still running. I checked the board again but was not able to find the problem until now.
    Any ideas where to look?...

Macbook A1708 with water damage and problems after removing U2800
    by dbuergi
    Hi all,

i got a A1708 with water damage. I cleaned everything and the board started normal. But the next day i got 20v but no booting. Thermal cam showed over 160c (never had a chip getting this burning hot before) in U2800 and some shorts on the caps around it. After removal shortages were gone and i installed a donor U2800 which worked before.
Sadly now the device stays at 5v, 0,4a and 1,9w and i don't find the problem.USB ports worked fine before....
