    820-02020 (A2338) stuck @ 5v 0.11amps

board came with liquid damage and prior work on SoC PMU (U8100) with short on PP3v8_AON..
it had corroded caps around U8100, all removed and U8100 replaced successfully.. short removed..

Board is still stuck 5v 0.11 amps.. I have returned all the missing caps around U8100 thinking maybe they're necessary but sadly no fix.

    PPBUS 12.33v
    PP3v8_AON 3.8v
    PPV5_S2 not present, no short
    PP3v3_S2 not present, no short
    PP1v8_S2 not present, no short..

I've taken diode and short measurements around all coils for U8100 they were reading normally.. except few lines they were reading tiny above OBD reference readings..

Forgot to mention: I've replaced the U8100 not once but twice; same symptoms

Took of master PMU to have a look under it for missing pads or bad traces and found this:

solved; turned out to be a knocked off cap, an important one 🤷🏻

How did you solve it, friend? I have an A2338 with the same defect, 5V and 0.11A

              MacBook Air A2337 - 820-02016 - Stuck at 5v - Varying current draw - Board had short
              by duwane
              Hi All.

I have an 820-02016 board (A2337 M1) that has come in for data recovery. Reported as liquid damage, but no visible evidence of any liquid damage.

Board was initially stuck at 5v, and current only spiking occasionally to around 400mA and cycling.

After initial troubleshooting, found that C7800 (which feeds the power rail PP5V_BSTLQ_VOUT_SPMU) was dead short to ground.

Replaced C7800 and short gone. Board still stuck at 5v. Current draw behaviour changed. It now spikes up for a second to around 100mA to 130mA, then drops down to...

macbook pro M1 a2338 no video on internal display PP3V3_S2 short
              by sdogs
Greetings to the entire forum, I ask you for help because I'm going crazy. A dear friend of mine gave me a macbook pro M1 A2338 that only works with an external screen. With the internal one, no backlight or image. Only the external display is detected from the system settings.
First I changed the display flat, then I made a backup with time machine and tried a reset in dfu but nothing to do, always the same problem.
I analyzed the logic board, it shows no sign of liquid or visible damage. I then moved on to examine the logic with the thermal camera and found that the UP701 chip was...

Extreme High Current & Low Voltage Short Killer ??
              by DynaxSC
              Hi Folks

I'm looking for a extreme high current short killer solution for a reasonable cost.

I have an LGA1700 motherboard (ASUS PRIME Z790-P WiFi) where I exchanged the LGA socket already 3 times, and every time after the socket exchange I get a short of power supply lines VCORE (V variable) and VCCIN_AUX (1.8V).
After taking off the socket, the shorts dissappear again.
The soldermask on the socket is already partially demaged from the heat, so I have reconstructed the soldermask by manually painting the missing soldermask parts with a very small top of a...

MacBook Pro 14" A2442 Short on PPBUS_AON but no short present when injecting voltage!
              by Stephen
I check PPBUS_AON and there is a short present on the line, the computer shows a short when testing for short to ground, so when I inject voltage into the line, I get 0AMPS so no short is showing up. I have replaced a blown cap on this board that exploded and tested for the short and it is now removed. Any suggestions? I tested voltage at the line when the fuses are connected and I am getting 1.2 Volts at the line.
