da0ew3mb6d1 lvds 40 pin bad connector

I bought this laptop for 30$ had no picture with original screen,
but on external screen it workd,

The screen was broken, so i bought a used screen on ebay for another 30$.
    Still got no picture,
so i tested it with another new inverter (14$) , still got no picture.

decided the test the mainboard :-( it had water damage

2 or 3 pins were eaten and now i have a brown spot.

i've just noticed sw1 is stuck, is this supposed to be normally open or normally closed?

i can replace the bad connector but the pads are gone.

is this repairable or use this lappy for parts?

a new/ used board is about 80$ way too much

update: i took the connector out with hot air and plenty of flux,

i can see the rail coming from a 000 resistor i will do a bypass with a wire.

the question is where can i buy a new connector,
using a used one from a scrap mainboard will be a pain...

and i am still in the dark about the SW1.

These are for 19v for the inverter supply. You could just connect (solder) a cable from the resistor pads to the inverter.
SW1 must be open. It's the lid switch. If it is in closed position it will short 3v supply.

hey atsio, do you have any idea where can i buy the connector online?
or a recommended way of removing it without damaging it?

i took your advice and took SW1 out, it has 4 pins.
i dont know how it was supposed to be but,
each pin was shorted to the pin on the other side.

i went over all of my scrap boards but didn't find any suitable connector,
maybe any one can help me finding a new/used connector?

Why you want to remove it? Can't you solder a wire from the resistor to the pins on the connector?
The best way to remove it is with IR and is better to use and a preheater. You can use hot air in combination with a preheater but you have to be carefull with the temperature of the hot air.
As for SW1 switch, which pins are shorted when you press it?

Re: da0ew3mb6d1 lvds 40 pin bad connector

i already removed it with hot air, had to do it in order to trace the rail to the missing pins.

sw1 was stuck i removed it, i will try to find a similar switch later on.

the most important issue is to find a replacement connector.

              searched alot and found nothing.

do you know the exact name of this connector?

40 pin video connector gave me nothing similar.

Search for IPEX connector i.e. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/I-PEX...617198812.html
