Can this display be repaired?

Hi,

See attachment, The LCD is not broken and the problem doesn't seem to be in the side ribbons.. Do you guys think this can be fixed? What should I check?

You haven't mentioned the result on an external monitor or a second known working screen. Is there any change if you do any jiggling/pressure to the cable/screen? It does look like a bad LCD or LCD connection but you say it isn't. Is it a ccfl or led backlight?

I haven't mentioned because I know the issue is this screen. It was replaced with a working screen, and this test is same result in a different laptop..
The problem doesn't seem to be in the side ribbons because i did jiggled/pressured the screen edges and no changes occurred.
LED backlight.

OK. I'm sure you've already done it but may be a close check with magnifying glass for any bent/broken pins.

no !
you need a new screen. if you do manage to fix it plzz post here how you manage to do it because many will need it.
usually this type of faulty comes from the ribon that its glue to the glas(screen)
if you manage to repair that your AWESOME.

Already replaced the screen..

Yes ricoh, this type of failure is usually the ribbons connecting to the glass, but in that case, pressuring the ribbons creates an effect on the screen. Here it doesn't, that's why suspect the issue might be on board.

I'm already awesome! Just not yet an awesome repair tech.. Hopefully with a little of your help and a lot of hard work, I'll get there.

was looking for some fix for that problem long time ago, but most of the problem that create this is the ribbon cable glued and almost impossible to repair, if we dont know what glue is used and how to make it perfect alligned. suppliers doesnt sell that king of ribbon cable, so if we havent a spare is useless to look also for the glue brand

I manage to fix some screens by using the hot iron and melting the glue with it. I place a piece of hard plastic on top of the flex in order to avoid damaging the flex.

As I wrote I didn't try them. As for the 3mm 45 degrees soldering tip I usually use for this type of job I set the soldering station to 250 degrees (again it depends on the thickness of the protective piece of plastic you use).

I think it doesn't applies to my situation.. When I was trying to apply some heat to the ribbons I noticed squeezing some parts of the board there were significant changes.
Other work got in the way, but tomorrow morning I'm applying some heat into the soldered circuit.

Is it possible to get schematics for the display board? Screen is a LTN156AT02 and circuit board is identified as LTN156HDS2LV1.4 HF.

Hi,

I stand corrected, it's the ribbons! I was able to get this result applying a small amount of pressure in the 3rd ribbon from the left.. Tried hot iron, unsuccessfully till now.. Can I use hot iron in the glass side as well?

I personally wouldn't bother, any repair if successful probably wouldn't hold up long (these ribbon things are too tricky to reliably repair), and 15.6" LED screens cost very little these days anyway.
