    Replacing 216-0774008 to 216-0774009

    Hi everyone,

I am just trying my luck here if there is anyone here tried this and had success.

    Laptop CQ42
    DA0AX1MB6F1 REV:F

Original fitted chip is 216-0774008, since I had ran out of this exact chip, I fix a 216-0774009. Both chip are same series HD5470, same design as well.

Originally, I had IR reflow the 4008 but only lasted about 1 month before it died again. Hence no other choice but to replace it. Before I fix up the 4009, I did tried a short 20 second hot air reflow, and the board booted up again. (just to confirm the chip is giving problem).

Now with the 4009, standby is normal 0.010A, can start up when press the power button, yet I am not getting display.

Had anyone tried this on this particular board and chip and had success?

I understand this sometimes the board/BIOS accept the substitute chip (I am not familiar with BIOS mod though).

Had tried yesterday with a Compaq 6535b, 6050A2213604-MB-A03, original chip 216-0674022 replace to 216-0674026 and works fine.

If you are wondering why didn't I just replace the same chip, well it takes time for me to order from China, and it's a problem for me to stock so many types of chips. Yet this customer need to use the laptop asap.

I am at the moment trying to compile a list of substitutes chip/mainboard from a russian speaking forum, and if anyone here interested to share info and build the list, I am very grateful. Can email or PM me. Once enough I will share it here for those who repair laptops.
Mainly repair laptops, sometimes LCD/LED monitors. Also accepts changing/reballing/reflow BGA job request.

      Hello,

I wanted to ask you if the opposite procedure will work? I have a dell motherboard with originally installed 216-0774009, and in stock I have 216-0774008. Dο you think that it will be compatible? Has anyone succeed in this change?
