My case, an Samsung LE37C530 series (Power Supply- DONG YANG BN44-00338B Model: P2632HD_ADY) had the same trouble- TV only in standby, not turn on; I changed only the CM808 capacitor and noted it was a little inflated. However, I didn't find the right one to change (18nF 630V) so I put an 10nF 2kV from an old desktop PC power supply, TV works fine!!!

Mine is burned the element PU401 marked MS3TD and google knows nothing 'bout this marking code. Now at least I know what to search for!

Hi all! I've got the same problem with the same model of Sony. However, 90% of dead Sony I get in service all of them have the same problem- one ceramic capacitor shortened, usually near the CPU but in this case it's the same cap shortened as in [B]michaeleangelo[/B]'s case. The work methode is very right, but I prefer to check out the circuits, the caps with the multimeter only. In some difficult cases I use a infrared thermometer to find the chip/ element that is defect, sometimes it doesn't get hot- could have two degrees above...
