    Super IO Chip ENE KB9542qe

Hello everybody, i am diagnosing a hp omen 15-dh0007ng motherboard with no power. After a bit messuring I found out that the 3v rail is missing. Looking after that I found a short on a cap on an step down regulator ic. After removing the cap the short was still there. I also removed the ic looking if maybe this is internally shorted. The short remained still there. After that I tried to inject voltage 3.0v on the 3v rail and I found through thermal camera the super iO chip heating up. It had a current draw of about 0.7A. Now I want to replace the super iO chip but I found out that they contain bios programming and I would have to reprogram the new one. Can somebody with more experience clear this up to me? I have schematics of the MB as boardview files if this is needed. Also please forgive my English it's not my native language.

Acer Nitro 5 LA-L181p power LED turns on by 5 secs (Short on PCH rail?)
    by Victor Moreira Silva
    Hello everyone,

I'm trying to repair my old Acer Nitro 5 (AN517-54-55T5). I've already bought a new laptop, so this is more of a learning project. For the experience, with no high expectations of success.

Well, my decice specs are the following:

    Model: Acer Nitro 5 AN517-54-55T5
    CPU: Intel Core i5-11400H
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
    Motherboard: GH51G LA-L181P Rev:1c

    The symptom:
When pressing the power button, the power LED lights up for about 5 seconds and then turns off. Initially, the issue was intermittent: sometimes...

Guide to transplant MEC1503 EC chip and EEPROM reprogamming for T14s gen 2 and X13 gen 2
    by acedogblast
This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

Asus ROG Ally - Super IO Chip replacement
    by ongobongo
    Hello everyone,
anyone here who has experience with replacing the super IO chip of an ROG ally?
I have one on my bench which has a burnt super io (ITE 5125VG-192). On some devices the super-io downloads it's firmware from BIOS if it's empty. As i don't have a programmer for this chips i hope someone here has already changed the chip and can give me a hint if it's working with an empty chip if it needs external programming.
    Thanks

Nintendo Switch lite charging chip heats up and does not short circuit
    by fab13
    Hello everyone

Small technical problem on a Nintendo Switch lite
Here's what I noticed: the USB port has been damaged internally, with a short circuit on the power supply line to the small fuse.

After replacing the USB connector, the short circuit went away and I can't see any other short circuit in the whole motherboard.

When I charge the console, it seems to be charging: I get 15 volts and an amperage of 0.450 A.

Then, after a while, the amperage increases to 1.1 A and the BQ24193 charging chip starts to heat up, as evidenced...

    Xbox One S - 12V Rail Short - Q9F1 Keeps Blowing
    by grimacelord
    Hello,

Have an Xbox One S here that has a short on the 12V power rail. There is no power, beep, or partial fan spin when connecting power cable.

After diagnosing with thermal camera, Q9F1 MOSFET (NTTFS4C50N) is getting hot. When I remove this MOSFET, the short on the 12V rail disappears.

I first replaced Q9F1 with one from a donor board and then partially reassembled the Xbox to test. When I plugged the power cord in, I got a partial fan spin and I thought I had fixed it, but unfortunately, the Xbox still did not power on. So I then disassembled the Xbox...
