    HP Victus 15-fa1024nt - DAG3PAMB8D0 REV.D MODEL: G3PA

    Hi, everyone.
I need help with this repair, please.
This laptop came with no signs of life.
There is no orange/ white light on the charger.
The only voltage present on the motherboard is 19V.
After inspecting it with a thermal camera I found the charging IC (ISL88739B) very hot.
Pin 21 shorted to ground which goes to the date to the mosfet next to it.

I've replaced it with another ISL88739A and the short is gone it started to get an orange and white light on the charging port.
    5V present
3.3V line not present. The IC on the picture RW=9J T39 which created the 3.3V is receiving 19V, but not creating 3.3V.
3.3V on the BIOS and Power button present.

So after a few minutes, all the lines are gone again and just 19V is present as before and no LED light on the charger.

No shorts on the motherboard or heat is under the thermal camera.

I replace the ISL with the correct one ISL88739B and still the same. Is the ISL88739A different from the ISL88739B?
I can't find schematics for the motherboard or datasheet for ISL88739B or RW=9J T39.

Thanks in advance for the help.

In most of the HP gaming laptops only 5V is present before switching. 3.3V comes after switching.
Dont know whether 88739A/88739B id different or not.

I got similar issues it just burned by itself. couple times tried open then it was smelling like burned. Now shutdown no more action. What is the broken part, if anyone knows about could share number and info about it? Also is it possible to save this laptop?

The part with the burn is a power inductor. The part markings appear to be '1R0' = 1 uH inductor.

Measure the length x width of this part. Then source the highest current rated part for a replacement. It is of concern that this part has this burn mark. You can measure the resistance to ground (without power to the board) to check if there is a short on this rail. Inductors will rarely burn out like this board is showing.

Estimating the part to be $1-$3 USD. If you are not comfortable to flux and remove with a soldering iron / hot air tool then suggest to take the board to a local cell phone repair shop who is able to perform low level board repairs. Mention that you need a power inductor to be removed and replaced.

Start with the dimensions of this shielded power inductor and we should be able to locate a replacement.

          HP Victus 15-FA1025NL , board DAG3PAMB8D0 REV:D, shorted CPU DrMOS and n-mos

          Hi to all,
the owner of this machine gave it to me after having opened it to take off the dust from the inside, telling me that after that it didn't start anymore.
I found that one of the DrMOS (AOZ5016QI) on the CPUCORE was shorted between VIN and VSWH, and that one of the two n-mos connected to the power jack was shorted aswell.
I unsoldered the two shorted components and verified that there were no other short circuits, then decided to power the mainboard, firstly with the lab power supply, then with its original HP 200w charger, but the behaviour is the same, the board starts...
