The ‘R’ has a few more features than the ‘S’ version. If the software makes use of the extra registers then no it will not work. However the parts are drop in replacements for each other so no harm to test it if the part is available to you.

OMG - yet the TI forum (FAE) states the 2 devices are pin-for-pin compatible with each other.

From the pinout - they look to be compatible as mentioned in the TI forum. Could there be another fault on the logic board?

BQ24780S is suitable replacement for 24800. the IC has burnt for some other reason. You need to remove the charging IC and share resistance to GND on each and every pin of charging IC

If you have BQ24781 you can use it as replacement for BQ24800. I personally tested it yesterday with the latest Acer ExpertBook B1400CB.

Could it work on an asus rog strix zephyrus motherboard? The bq24800 is very hot when I connect the charger and in V+ I only have 4v

Then there is a problem in the B+ line and you have to isolate it to find the real problematic parts.

My board uses the BQ24800 and I have the BQ24780S. Do you think I can install it? I see that the only difference is in the resistors, and I see there's a burnt chip on top. Were you able to get it working? Thankyou

                                    Hi everyone.
I received an Elgato 4K60 Pro PCI-E capture card (first version, not MK2) and the owner said it stopped working after a lightning. It was not even recognized on Windows. The chip EP9162S seemed a little sus and I ordered a new one. I replaced it and now Windows detects and install the card. Also, when I connect it to a laptop HDMI port, Windows (on the laptop) recognizes as a second monitor with the name 4K60 Pro, but nothing shows up on the computer where the capture card is installed on. Not on OBS, not on Camera app or any other. It just shows the Elgato logo with the message...

                                    Hi all!!

Ok just got a Onkyo SKW-593 sub woofer that has no power person told me that it smoked and that his GF let the volume full when she powered off the amp and when he came to turn it on the sub played but then suddenly smoke was coming out, didn't say from where. So opened it up and saw a resistor made of metal (pic) but can't see any writing on metal par so what ever was written on it was burnt. So I'm kinda stuck here with this. I did ask for a repair or schematics in the other group section and waiting for this but I hope someone here might lend me a hand to try and identify...

                                    Hi,

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 9 (20XW) and it had no backlight. I saw the backlight fuse (F7) was blown so I replaced it with a known good fuse. Then the device does not power on at all and I get no charge light. I removed the backlight fuse and it went back to how it was, working but with no backlight. Replaced both F3 and F7 and still same issue, no power no charge light.

Any one got any ideas what could be causing this?

If you need any specific details I will try my best to answer.
