Hi, I'm working on an ASUS ROG G14, GA410QEC board. U1203 (TPS25810 but the schematic has it as SN1507044RVCR1) has shorted the +5VSUS rail. Is it safe to power up to test and subsequently use the laptop until I receive the replacement part?
Is it safe to power up ASUS ROG G14 without TPS25810?

Is it safe to power up ASUS ROG G14 without TPS25810?

I beleive this tps ic is usb type c controller. If the laptop is powered by usb c adapter, you need to replace it. however, if barrel type adapter is used, you can turn it on without this controller.
I have not seen the schematic, so this is just general opinion. proceed at your own risk. -
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 GA401QM Schematic and Boardview - Badcaps
Thanks for the assistance mcplslg123, the schematic is here if you want to take a look. Luckily I was able to find one on an hp envy board but there is another short, PU8805 (uP9030P) is heating up.
Is there any hope for the laptop to work without this one... I see there are 3 more on the board... is it possible to swap out with another to have a working laptop until this replacement arrives?
Sorry if I should have started a new thread for this.Comment

History of the repair: Customer tried to charge with a make shift battery/ usbc cable and the laptop stopped working. I checked caps around the USB C port and found the +5VSUS line shorted, 0 ohms. U1203 heated up with voltage injection, after I replaced it, the resistance went to 1.6 ohms. Voltage injection again showed PU8805 as the heat source, upon removal the resistance of +5VSUS went to 115 ohms.
According to the schematic for the QM variation, there should be a total of 5 of these load switches on the board, I confirmed 4, the other (U7101) could be under the heat sink, which, I did not remove.
To me it seems like PU8805 supplies power to the HDMI port and PU8803 seems to provide power for audio of some sort and apart from the +3VA_EC, it has the lowest current limit. My customer may not need HDMI but would need audio.
I would like to know if the laptop should work, except hdmi, with PU8805 missing or can I use PU8803 to replace PU8805 and leave PU8803 missing but still have audio to the speakers?Comment

PU8805 seemed essential so I ordered the replacement. It is a relatively expensive part. I ordered from eBay for $20USD and after installing it I checked the resistance on the +5VSUS rail and it dropped to 6 ohms. Thankfully I found a cheaper source on Aliexpress and ordered a few as backup. After installing another, the laptop is booting to bios.Comment

by GLISITHi all,
TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!
I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

by ShadowAiHello, I have an issue with the motherboard. Specifically, it doesn't power on, more precisely, the POST initialization doesn't occur.
Let me start from the beginning, the motherboard suddenly stopped working one day. There are no beep signals from the speaker, and the debug LEDs are not lighting up. After inspecting it under a microscope and using thermal imaging, I didn't find anything that could be damaged.
After that, I began voltage measurements, in which I noticed the absence of VDDQ, VDDP, VTT, and VPP lines. Later, I checked if there is an EN state on these lines,... -
by meraklinetxHello, I have an asus Z97-A motherboard and it doesn't start which was working properly before, the problem isn't related by ram, ram slots or psu (I changed all and nothing work), the exact problem is when you switch it on , it starts and after 1 seconds (no boot or display picture) it's off and then on cycle continuously until you power it off from psu also it's responding to the power switch for turning it off if you keep pressing it 3 or 4 seconds (power button pin has 3.3v) , also when you start it with eatx 12v socket connected this is happening (power cycle also all voltages are resetting...
