    Thinkpad T490s No battery recognize

I just bought a new T490s battery. The Lenovo Diagnostic said no battery. Open check the battery socket from motherboard it shows no voltage should be 11-12V. The usb-c power adapter had 20v and the laptop came up with ac adapter plug in. What should I check next?

    1) confirm the battery is properly seated in the connector.

    2) the battery may be a dud

    3) confirm you have the latest device driver for the battery support:
    • Lenovo Power Management Driver for Windows 11 (Version 21H2 or later) 10 (Version 1607 or later) - ThinkPad
    4) what is the history of this laptop? Did the last battery work ok? Do you still have it for testing? Check if it is detected.

I did update all latest drivers. 2 batteries purchased are brand new. I measured the voltage on the battery socket pin 1 for ground pin 6 for vcc show no voltage so the battery Mosfet may be dead.

Does either battery show a voltage when it is on your work table?

measure the voltage to ground of each pin on the battery connector while it is attached to the logic board.

Locate the mosfets nearby this battery connector. Meter in resistance mode. Check each mosfet by reviewing the resistance. No power/no battery in resistance mode checks.

        check:

        source (1-2-3) & drain (5-6-7-8)
        source (1-2-3) & gate (4)
        gate (4) & drain (5-6-7-8)

post each measurement. A low resistance = leaky mosfet.

          Source 123&5678 0.81volt
          Source 123&4 3.35volt
          Source 4&56 0.16volt
          Source 4&78 3.09volt

          MOSFET 1 measure 0.81volt
          MOSFET 2 measure 9.21volt

Time for me to replace leaked MOSFET.

No. Interested in the resistance measurements (ohms) not voltage measurements. Select a high K ohms scale and measure as noted above. Post a pic of your meter face for a confirmation of the settings.
