Voltage is only on that side where power is connected
PP3V3_UPC0_LDO - 3,4V
PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE - 1,5V
USBC0_3V3LDO_EN - 0V
PP3V3_UPC1_LDO - 3,4V

if CD3217 is bad it will be visible on thermal cam ? and also there will be different voltage output on FF200 and FF201 ?Leave a comment:

If the current draw is a sudden fixed value then you will need to check the resistance to ground on the vbus rail on the usb type c connector. There may be a partial short on this leg of the circuit. Is the current draw the same value if the power cable head is flipped by 180 degrees? Do not inject such a high voltage till more is known about your case.Leave a comment:

i've tried with motherboard removed just connecting power and it's immediatelly taking 5V and 0,2A
I tried also in case without anything connected and same result.
I've tried also DFU but it's not working
i found similar issue that i have hare :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3yL...nnel=MasterLiu
but i'm concerned as he is injecting 9V in PPBUS_AON, but when i inject only 1V in PPBUS_AON is taking nothingLast edited by obelix24; 02-26-2024, 02:32 AM.Leave a comment:

Remove all of the parts you are suspecting that are the not 100% like the original such as the keyboard backlight. Even the keyboard should be removed. Use the tweezers to perform the ON/OFF button activity to test again.Leave a comment:

I have problem with this MacBook. I've replaced keyboard as the original one was working but lot of the keys were sticky. I've ordered new keyboard and replaced it with no issue. But when I inserted motherboard it take only 5V and 0,2A I took the board with care to prevent any damage so I don't understand what happened.
I've checked and PPBUS_AON is only 0,5V when power is connected (taking 5V 0,2A (I tried to inject voltage 1V 3A but looks there is no short it's taking only 0,03A)
PP1V25_S2 in diode mode is only 0,283V but also doesn't looks like any short on this rail ...
any idea ?
CD3217 should be both ok as I've measured 5V on both FF200 and FF201
strange is that on F5200 I've measured in diode mode 0.073V on both sides. I've tried to inject voltage here but it's taking nothing 0A
only thing that gets in my mind that when I was replacing keyboard it was without backlight and the old one looks little bit sticky also so I've used another one from a2189 or a1708 (I'm not 100% sure but it looks same as original one ...Last edited by obelix24; 02-25-2024, 11:52 AM.Leave a comment:

The ALS sensor is I2C / SMBUS based. Locate it and check the voltage to ground of this ALS sensor SCL & SDA lines.Leave a comment:

I was checking macbook more and i noticed that Automatic Adjust brightness is No in system report ...
I've checked on boardview ALS but i'ts quite hard as there are almost no IC's on the board ... it looks like is controled on LCD boards ... I've tried to replace UD140 but still the same and camera is not working ...
On Rossmann group forum i found same issue as i'm having (trouch bar working but light up after some time, camera not working) and problem was LCD cable. But i have tried 2 different LCD cables and same issue ...
I will try to order new LCD cable to have 3 to be 100% sure it's okLeave a comment:

On LCD connector you mean ? I've measured on TP's
I2C_BKLT_SCL - (PIN 26) - 5,2V
I2C_BKLT_SDA - (PIN 24) - 5,2VLeave a comment:

Measure the voltage to ground of pins 24 and 26 on this camera connector. These are the I2C lines for SCL and SDA.Leave a comment:

Another update. I've fixed Touch ID by replacing UT610 from donor boardThere was missing PP3V0_TOUCHID after replacing Touch ID is working perfectly
So I have only 2 problems left.
1. Camera is still not working not even recognised by OS
2. Touch Bar is working but lights up after I close lid and reopen it, or after some time.
Any ideas ?Leave a comment:

Diode mode confirms there are no shorts on these high speed camera lines but the 0volts indicates these lines are not being driven. The mipi clock lines are to be driven by the logic board (host) side; the mipi data lines are the camera captured pixel output data. It is possible that the camera is disabled or not being detected. Before the camera can spew out the high speed streaming video capture, it must be configured by the slower smbus or low power mipi (LP) channels. Mipi lane 0 pair also functions as the low power, slower speed configuration channel for the target camera. Suggest to measure the voltage to ground of the smbus pins on this same connector as the camera mipi lines. Confirm that the scl and sda lines are not stuck low. If stuck, camera will not be found and the mipi lines will remain at 0 volts.Leave a comment:

yes the voltage is with LCD connected.
I will measure and post results.Leave a comment:

So the camera is being powered. Is this with the LCD connected? If not, do attach the LCD and confirm this voltage on LP610 remains @ ~5 volts.
The camera is a MIPI CSI interface.
Measure the voltage to ground of:
MIPI_FTCAM_DATA_ISOL_N
MIPI_FTCAM_DATA_ISOL_P
MIPI_FTCAM_CLK_ISOL_N
MIPI_FTCAM_CLK_ISOL_P
MIPI_DATA_CONN_N
MIPI_DATA_CONN_P
MIPI_CLOCK_CONN_N
MIPI_CLOCK_CONN_PLeave a comment:

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

by Ado02Hi,
I am working on a MacBook that came in for a screen replacement. The MacBook powers on and works on the external screen. However, the screen stays black. The replacement screen made no difference. On further investigation, I found small amounts of corrosion.
Please see the attached image.
I ordered a refurbished logicboard, but the problem didn't go away with the old or replacement screen.
Can anyone suggest where to go from here?... -
by ledbylightHi all!
This is my first post and also one of my first "deep dives" into electronic repair. I'm used to doing basic tasks with computers, like SSD/CPU replacement, thermal past re-application, etc. So here's the story...
I have a MacBook Air M1 that I bought to repair (I know, I'm weird; though I'm a CompSci major and want to learn more, and it will not display anything on the internal display. I have verified that there's no backlight, as I booted the laptop and shined a flashlight on it and there's no display; it does completely boot up, and shows fine on an external...
