After flashing bios, no power, nothing comes on ASUS K56CB

    Hi
LAPTOP model: ASUS K56CB (i7-3537u cpu)

BIOS POST took a long time, more than 30 seconds, it was never like this before. I decided to flash the bios using AFUDOS.exe.
I downloaded the original BIOS file from Asus site ver205. I used RUFUS to create a boot-able USB flash having this command in AUTOEXEC.BAT:
    AFUDOS.exe BIOS.ROM /GAN

It read the bios then gave the warning about writing to bios may ruin it. I confirmed and as soon as I pressed the enter key the power went out and it doesn't power on anymore. Even the battery power light does not turn on. WHAT did I do wrong? Somebody help me please, I am frustrated.

    Thanks in advance

Now you need a bios programmer like CH41A or similar to flash the bios chip. You can get a good dump by requesting it in bios forum.

        Thanks for the reply.
Is there a way to do this on board? I mean without desoldering the bios chip..

Yes,some people use a clip to program bios chip without de soldering but i dont prefer it as this may not be always succesfull.

            Hi again.
I had the laptop repaired by some technician. I don't know what he did but I think he flashed the bios again. The problem is that the POST is taking too much time, around 45 seconds, and then it tries to continue with loading of Windows that it also takes too much time to initiate. I have a brand new SSD and I knows the Windows has no problem too. I read somewhere to press Control+Home then the power button. If I do this It takes very little time (around 3 secs) for POST to be over and voila, windows initiates to load very very fast too. I guess the problem is that the Bios file the technician used was not original from Asus. Can somebody explain to me how to flash the bios using AFUDOS or whatever other software. I have downloaded the latest Bios file from Asus support site, it says version 205. The bios version I have now says v205 too, so I cannot use EZFlash from Asus to write the file, It says they are the same version.

            Thanks in advance.

With ASUS, not everything is quite so simple. I will show you my way. It may be longer or harder but it is the right way to do it in my humble opinion.

For example, you can have 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all being the same model, all of which will have different BIOS versions.

I will give you an example and my version of preparing BIOS from ASUS website and in the process I am always cleaning Intel ME while doing it so you have fully cleaned BIOS, no DMI data, no password, nothing.

This is the picture of 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all of them being X555LD...

ASUS ROG Ally X - (Handheld Gaming PC)
              Model No: RC72LA
              Serial No: SBNVKD001014459

Hi all, I've spent the past week digging through the forums and guides to try correct my foolish mistake of changing hidden settings while tinkering around, and to be honest my heads overloaded so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.

I used a tool called 'Smokeless-UMAF' to access usually hidden settings in the bios. I tweaked one or two 'safe' things but made the mistake of tweaking a lot of settings under 'USB/Thunderbolt Configurations' when I didn't know what they did. For...

Flashing ASUS UX51VZ with correct bios
              by Flyview
              Hi!

Happy to be part of this forum for my first post!

              Short story:
I believe my dad's UX51VZ has an incorrect bios (v207) for a UX51VZH flashed onto it. I'm not quite sure what the differences are between UX51VZ, UX51VZA, and UX51VZH. The serial number of this machine is D5N0CY845932229 and comes up as a "UX51VZ-DB103P" when checked on this ASUS website. All of the bioses can be found at this ASUS website.

              1) Do I have the correct bios or should it be the v205 for UX51VZ? Is there something I can check inside the machine to make sure?
