Hello Colleagues,
I'm dealing with a perplexing issue on a client's laptop and would appreciate your insights. The user experienced a sudden screen blackout during regular use (not gaming), although the laptop continued to operate normally otherwise, with music playing and indicator lights active. An external display connected via HDMI works fine, indicating the display itself is functional. The device manager shows the Intel XE GPU as disabled, with Windows reporting a related error, while the NVIDIA RTX GPU operates without issues, even supporting gaming.
Upon inspection, the motherboard appears immaculate - no signs of liquid damage, burns, or missing components. This is the first time the unit has been opened. I've attached photos for further examination. Interestingly, I haven't encountered a scenario where the Intel XE Graphics is disabled due to a hardware fault; it's typically the opposite.
During boot, the Razer logo doesn't appear, and there's no visual output in BIOS. I've attempted to detect any images using a strong flashlight, but to no avail. Remote access through TeamViewer (without HDMI) shows no monitors in the device manager, aside from the noted disabled Intel GPU. When connected via HDMI, only the HDMI output is recognized as a monitor.
The laptop is slightly over a year out of warranty, and Razer won't accept it for service. I've included photos and taken various measurements. I haven't tried a different LCD yet, as there are no apparent physical damages to the LCD, ribbon cable, or connectors. BIOS and EC are up to date.
I'm looking for any thoughts or suggestions on this issue. The specific model is RZ09-0421EED3, and the motherboard is APF21006_MB MP V4.0.
Thanks in advance for your input.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
Intel Iris Xe Graphics
12th gen Intel® Core™ i7
Cheers
