    Re: Is this susceptible?

If you mean the graphics chip problem then yes it is an 8xxx series chip and they tend to run quite hot and will fail eventually it is a well known problem with 8xxx series even doing the copper shim trick does not seem to work because they run so hot that is the problem i have encountered with most 8xxx series graphic chips.

Sometimes you need to break shit to fix it.... Thats why my lawnmower doesn't have a deadman switch or engine brake anymore

Susceptible disc tray on Yamaha BD-S673
            by Antoninov
            Dear all,
First message on this nice forum!

I have been troubleshooting my blu-ray player Yamaha BD-S673. Despite its age (I bought it in 2013), it still works EXCEPT the disc tray is behaving. Over time, it was more and more refusing to open, until it just did not open anymore. I opened it, cleaned it (a hair, some dust) and it seemed to work again, but only for a couple of days.

It seems it works without the disk tray plastic cover. However, I am pretty sure it would not be prudent to run it with a disk without that cover. The plastic cover contains a relatively...

did bad capacitors kill my motherboard or prolonged exposure to faulty psu?
            by stanwebber
i've got a pretty rare motherboard that i'm evaluating for repair. it's a biostar m7mia-raid which is the only ddr socket a motherboard ever produced, consumer or industrial, with an isa slot. its 20 years old now and finally gave up the ghost last month. i was saving a dd image of the hdd to a portable usb drive when i found it unresponsive with a black screen and a solid lit hdd led. after forcing it to power down it never posted again. the psu/cpu/case fans will spin and the onboard motherboard power led will light up, but no beeps or error codes even with the cmos reset and ram plus all expansion...

            Hello everyone,

I recently picked up a laptop that was about to be thrown away to try to repair it. I've tested quite a few things, but I don't know where to look anymore. Could you please help me?

            Brand: Asus Vivobook
            Motherboard reference: x421da, Rev 2

            Context:
The person who gave it to me mentioned it might have been exposed to water, but they weren't sure. After opening it up, I couldn't find any signs of water damage or oxidation on the motherboard.

The first thing I did was to connect the PC to a power supply: 19V stable and...

820-00165 no greenlight in S0 state
            by speggio91
            Hello everyone,

I've started to practise more on macbooks air board, I've got a bunch of defective ones, to see if I can gain some more knowledge.

I've been focused on a water damaged board of an 2017 Air.
Someone else already worked on it, the SMC has been reflowed plus some minor reflows around the board.

I've reached a dead end but I improved the state of the board.
Initially it was no power, no green light, no fan spin, stuck at S5 state.

            After replacing some components (U7090, Q5500, Q7430, C7432, Q7630, U1950, R6115, R6116,...
