HP Pavilion DV4 turns off around 6 o 7 seconds.

Laptop usually powered off by itself previously after about an hour of use, then I took it apart to take off the dust. Now it doesn't even work at all, it powers for about 6 or 7 seconds then shuts off.

    Teach me your ways.

It's probably the CPU overheating then shutting down after a few seconds.

    Common causes are...

    1. Forgot to plug the fan back in

    2. Too much thermal paste

    3. The heat sink isn't laying flat on the CPU

I discarded the processor being the problem, I tested it with two other processors. And it doesn't output any video signal (external & internal).

      1) Fan is plugged.
      2) Paste is ok.
      3) The screws are turned tight shut.

Feel gently circuits if you can find the circuit which heats up, it may be faulty.

So, touch with my bare hands the whole motherboard while it's powering on?

Touch finger, be careful and not burn your fingers.

Ok. You need schematic and measure if there is short circuit somewhere.

                  Board is a JBL20 LA-4111P Rev. 1.0

                  I found this http://www.scribd.com/doc/80044854/H...-Jbl20-Rev-0-4

But I don't have any idea how to measure for short, can you give me a link for beginners?

I think you find advice from youtube.

Put black probe to ground and red probe to coil if resistance is low check componet around this area.

There is very low resistance to GPU and CPU so remove CPU before measure resistance.

I have no idea how to do that, I've got an analogue multimeter, is there any video that might help me in Youtube?

Just cheked, and there seems to be very good videos.

Put searching world "Laptop chip level repairing"

                          by twonk9098
                          Hi all,

I have a Lenovo Legion 5 with a Ryzen 7 series CPU and RTX 3070 GPU. My issue is that it turns on and all seems fine except after a few seconds the fans spin up high and the laptop turns off after 34 seconds.
I can get into bios and can even boot and login to Windows however after 34 seconds no matter if Im at the bios screen or booted into Windows it will just turn off.

I have managed to run HWmonitor and the temperatures of the CPU and GPU are fine, I can also touch the heatsync which is warm but not hot.

I have tried a few new bios but exactly...
