    TX1000 Fuse Blew up

My Sister gave me her laptop to fix. said that the power button was not responding. I told her that it was not going be a fult with power button but some thing else.

when i was taking it apart i seen that there was a part that blew up under the network card. A guy i know told me that it was a smd fuse.

Im going to need some help with this one please.

Jeez that looks nasty, I think it'll be incredibly difficult to repair that. Looks like the traces are fried.

It looks like several caps and some charred remains of something else has gone.

Your best bet is to grab the schematic and check what blew up.

It may well be possible, just that it doesn't look like it'll be easy. Those traces are designed to be of a certain resistance, so depending on where the fried part is/what its function in the circuit is, there may be a problem after.

If the traces are mostly intact, you're in luck.

EDIT: I can't identify the part on the schematic. Thought it was PR217 but I appear to be wrong

I think that it's a fuse for the main board. because when it pluged in the charging light comes on but no responce from power button.

It might be damage elsewhere causing them to read as short, especially since they're both connected to that... fried mess. But I'm pretty new to this myself matey. Best wait for someone more qualified to answer

thanks for the reply, i do agree that there probley is a short some where else. but what would draw so much amps to compleately destory this fuse.

My bet is on one of those voltage regulators to the left of the most recent picture, FDS6676S and the other one. If one of them is faulty it could also be causing those caps to read as shorted.

Looks like there was some sort of power surge that caused the fuse to physically blow up.
