    Hp 6735s no display

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum so please don't beat me for unintentional violations.

Ok I've done tech sup for Hp's It helpdesk but this issue is a little beyond me.

I seem to have damaged the little port on the motherboard where the graphics cable from the laptop screen connects to. Basic troubleshooting on a friends machine reveals it's the port on the board and not the screen cable connector.

Is this fixable? Or do I need a new board?

Limited budget at the moment so I'd like to avoid this if possible.

You mean like posting in the wrong section
I will ask a mod to move it to troubleshooting laptops

Good Clear Close up pictures of the faulty parts may help

(max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

            Re: Hp 6735s no display

Apologies guys for posting the wrong section.

There's no apparent damage to the port itself. I think I might have pushed the "plug" (if that's the right word) from the laptop screen, into the port, slightly off center.

I'm trying to find a picture of the port in question, I don't have the laptop here. Keeps showing me pictures of the back of the board.

This is the board in question. This link is the best I can get shows multiple views. On the picture showing the front of the board the port is that little white one at the buttom centre.

Sorry for the lack of info. Any suggestions would be great though guys.

I cant even tell which connector you mean - We will need pictures of YOUR connector

Are you sure its a graphic connector they are not usually small?
Does the laptop work with an external monitor

                Re: Hp 6735s no display

Perhaps I'm not describing this right. Someone told me this was called a graphics inverter. It's a little white connection point on the motherboard. about 30mm by 3mm.

A monitor wouldn't work in this, it's not the vga port or whatever it's the little point on the motherboard. It has about 20 little copper connections inside it.

                I'm such a n00b. Please forgive me.

can you see that little white retangle port there at the top centre of the board. That's the offending article. can that be replaced?

                  Do you mean this one,

Wondered if it was a led connector but dont think it is led lit

Obviously most things can be replaced depending on availability and skill
if it has 20 solder connections in that small space I wouldnt be able to do it.

"A monitor wouldn't work in this" no - most laptops have an external video port I meant for you to try that just to check the output

Thanks Spidey just need OP to confirm. I didnt really think it was the one I marked but he said small??

EDIT Haha - missed the 30mm x 3mm so yes its just an ordinary
graphics connector. - Still not a real easy fix unless his soldering is up to speed.
