    HP G71-449MW blank screen issue

I picked this hp g71-449wm recently with a known damaged lcd screen. But, I cannot get a video signal on an external monitor. Nor can I get video from the lcd connector on the mainboard. I tested the screen with another g71 and it is defintely damaged and will light up. I've tried the hard reset, different RAM modules. New CMOS battery. Remove and reinstall CPU. Tried another processor. And its more than likely overheated before, as the fan needed a good cleaning, but I can't say for sure.
This HP has an Intel T4300 processor and the Intel 4500M vga. Visuals reveal nothing out of the ordinary, i.e. nothing burnt on the mb.
Anyway, it starts up fine. No blinking caps lights. DVD drive spins up. Haven't seen the need to put in a hard drive until I get a BIOS screen.
Surfed the net for known issues and found nothing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: HP G71-449MW blank screen issue

Well, this mourning I decided I should hook up the lcd from the other G71. I'm waiting for a new screen for this one as it has horizontal lines on the screen. (No, its not the video cable) I hooked it up and lo and behold the laptop is posting and I can enter the BIOS screen, although its extremely long to boot. About 30 seconds. But, it is almost to dim to see. And the funny thing is I'm setting up the good G71 with the original os, using the LCD screen with the lines in it, and this G71 would not show on the external monitor either. Not funny! I'll do a little reseach on that. In the meantime I'm hoping for some advice on the dim screen issue. Any thoughts?

OK. I loaded the recovery os on a hard drive in the working, waiting for a new screen G71. Swapped the drive over into the dim, barely readable G71. Hooked up an external monitor and I got a screen on external. But, I had to set it up while in the Windows os. Seems the newer HP's do not load the vga connector i.e. DV 2000-6000-9000 etc. by default. Correct me if I'm wrong. With the dim screen I loaded the monitor via the function keys on the keyboard. Once in the control panel I could switch in and out of the external monitor. But I still do not have visible access to the BIOS screen as the external monitor will only load during Windows boot up. I did update the Intel chipset and installed an updated BIOS to no avail.
I guess I'll start testing the brown ceramic caps and the fuses in the monitor connection area of the mb. Wish me some luck!

Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54. displays on the external monitor and works fine, the issue is NO display on the internal screen
        by DqMagetz
        Good day!
I have a customer's laptop — Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54 (EH5VF - LA-H501P). It has a display on the external monitor and it's working fine, but the issue is NO display on the internal screen. I already replaced the eDP cable and checked the LCD connector pins.

        Here are the voltage readings:
        • Input – 19V (stable)
        • +LCDVDD – 3.3V briefly, then drops to 0V
        • EDP_HPD – 3.3V briefly, then drops to 0V
        • PCH_BKL_PWM – 2.2–5V briefly, then drops to 0V
        • EC BKOFF# – 1.8V briefly, then drops to 0V
        • PANEL_OD_EN – 0.3V

Is it possible that the EC chip is corrupted or damag...

AOC U34G3XM, new monitor, black screen with backlight on, possible shortcircuit during dissassembly
        by turmix
Hello, I'm working on a new deskmod pc project and have a problem with my monitor, an AOC U34G3XM, well, I may have bricked it.

The monitor was dismanteled and the separate parts parts integrated in the desk. the screen panel alone is on the upper part, and main board/video board + power board on the back of the desk (not enough place on the cover to fit it)
At first everything was working smoothly, then I decided to change the connexion between the video board and the screen for a longer one. Still working fine

During another reassembly, I made a mistake, and...

Aorus 17G YD laptop, broken display, could not switch to external monitor
        by ArchangelGabriel
Hello guys! I need a little help, I have one laptop for repair, it is an Aorus 17G YD, gaming laptop. Broken display, some cable ripped form daughter board connector, case broken, battery discharged and probably locked, etc. After I did the most tedious job I ever did on soldering back the broken cables (shielded cable) , I measured resistance on CPU and GPU core, 3 and 5 v ps and any coils I find on the board, everything seems to be fine. After I plugged the charger I don't get the power led light on from the charger connection maybe because the battery is locked , but on power button I have

Lenovo Legion 5 15IMH05H No Display
        by Rolin
I have a Lenovo Legion 5 15IMH05H 81y6003yUS that someone asked me to help them with a failing SSD. I installed a new SSD, fresh Win11 installation, updates, etc. Very standard stuff and everything was completed. He said he'll pick it up in a few days so I shut it down and set it aside.

A few days later came and now it won't POST an image, keyboard lights up, fans spin then shuts itself off after about 40 seconds. I've already tried the typical draining capacitance and removed CMOS battery, etc. No display on an external HDMI monitor as well.. No idea what happened. Suspected a BIOS...

Dynabook Satellite Pro C50D-B-100 - BIOS Issue, Black Screen
        by wizard13
        Hello everyone,

I am experiencing a BIOS-related issue with my Dynabook Satellite Pro C50D-B-100. When I power on the laptop, the screen stays black, and there is no response from the system. I suspect a corrupted BIOS.

I have checked the forum and the available documentation but could not find a solution specific to my issue.
