hi, what else have you checked?

      have you reset bios?

      have checked charger port?

if these are ok then you have bad component and need schematics to locate fuses or capacitors

Check the power socket for failure
Youtube video link, how to get to it
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_cT-b8eYZk
The next one says they are prone to failure

It's not going to do anything without ac adapter or battery. You need to find a working laptop (with same battery) with charged up battery and switch batteries. If if does not boot up, then you have other problems.

                    Hi bushido

Unplug ac adapter and remove battery. Press and hold power button for 15-30 seconds. Release it, plug ac adapter and press power button once. Maybe work this for you..

hey you need to reflow the the motherboard , its caused by it being overheated very common issue with this model and hundred others and not limited to nvidia chipset, intel and ati have these issues as well. What you need to do is strip the motherboard, remove bios battery, cords etc any anything that may melt the high temp plastic is ok to leave there its the pvc you have to worry about..once processor is removed and motherboard is bare, turn your oven on to 375F wait till oven reaches temp and put that motherboard on a cookie pan with the bga chips upright and put it in the oven for 8 minutes and pull it out let cool then reassemble with new thermal grease and cleaned heatsink and i bet you it will fire right up and run....

check the dc jack on mobo, make sure none of the pins are loose, if you have a digital multimeter put it on diode test and check continuity from the pins on dc jack to motherboard, and on the power cord there is a pin in the center that controls the battery charging if this pin in broke or not putting out 3 to 5 volts then the power cord either needs a new end or just replace the power cord and the metal inner circle is supposed to put out from 18 to 19 volts dc and use the outer of the plug as your ground...sounds like this laptop had a rough life messed up jack and overheated very common problem with people and laptop. now that you got it working again you will need to watch your temps and make sure its cool before you shut it off otherwise it will happen again....

and set the multimeter to dc volts 20 when test the ac adapter voltages if the center pin not have any volts then it will not charge battery another common problem with dells put black probe on outside of the plug and red probe to the center pin that looks like a needle should have 3 to 5 volts if none then the charger is bad....
