    MSI Wind U135DX Charging Issue

    Hi all,

I'm after a little help with his Netbook.

First of all it work as far as plugging in the cord the system boots to windows an runs stable for ever (5hrs with updates going on).

However Windows cannot detect the battery "Pluged in battery not detected"

No voltage on the outer pins on the battery charging socket but get about 2.5v on the inner pins, battery shows no voltage. When the battery is inserted the charging light comes on and is solid green.

Taking alook at the picturs( best I could do in daylight, sorry for the over kill) you can see next to the carging socket two missing surface mount caps missing (guessing caps) and some very small caps broken further in. Further along there looks like a tiny mosfet (Again guessing) that is damaged 3/4 cracked off. I think I can make out its has R5W on it.

This has to be the issue

From the looks of it I had to tidy up the soldering on the DC socket so someone has been hacking at it before and looks like they where quite heavy handed and as a result the damage shown.

I have a scrap Toshiba Sattellite A2 mobo with what looks like the same mosfet and caps on it, I just thought I throw this out before I embark on the component swap over.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

I found this on the Maxim 8724e IC. Page 6 look interesting with MAX8724 EV Kit Component Placement Guide—Component Side
