    DV9700 no audio?

Picked up a HP DV9700 showing 'no audio device is installed' and overheating.

It doesn't seem to be a driver problem as the first thing I did was restore to factory which didn't sort the audio.

As far as my experience/knowledge goes.. The audio is the first thing to go, then the wifi, then the video on these DV boards?

Anyone had this problem before? Think I'd probably be kicking a dead horse if I put some time into trying to fix it.

Usually those die via wifi failure then video corruption or complete loss of video without the sound having gone out but that does not mean it couldn't go out first.

Some people are determined to do everything they can to try to fix these and other similar HP units but personally I'm in the kicking a dead horse group, the problems are likely to only get worse but for now you might try a USB sound adapter, they are only a couple dollars US from places like Dealextreme - http://www.dealextreme.com/c/usb-gadgets-316 though shipping from Hong Kong may take about a month.

I've had a DV2000 or something similar before with the problem of no audio, so I figured it's just the start of the nvidia failiure as the thing is overheating horribly.

Guess it's probably worth at least trying a new driver before stripping it for parts.

Help troubleshooting an audio problem with an RCA SGT-250 CED Player
        by samson7point1@yahoo.com
The Problem: This player has a toggle switch to select between Stereo, Mono R, and Mono L. Regardless of the setting it outputs the sound to both the L&R audio jacks. In the Mono R position, the audio output level is normal (from both the L and R audio output jacks), in the Stereo position the audio output is about half the volume, and in Mono L, it's about 3/4 the volume. Something about putting it into Stereo mode is causing the volume to drop significantly and I can't figure it out.

The player processes the audio signal using two different reference frequencies. The "R"...

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
        by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

Roland KR-3500/4500 Digital Piano. Crackling audio sound on all keys -Fixed
        by i_am_patch
Hi All. I had a Roland KR-3500 Digital Piano (similar to the KR-4500) that exhibited a Crackling audio sound on all keys. After reading somewhere about someone with a similar issue who had replaced all the Electrolytic caps I decided to also go down that route. (Spoiler : It worked !) After some basic troubleshooting I determined that it could be noise feeding thru from the Keyboard scanning since the Demo tunes played back undistorted and the Audio amp / speakers were fine ( Inserted an Audio signal into the rear Audio input). After extracting the main board from the shield, I replaced 7 Capacitors...

Monitor Audio RSW12 - Green light but no audio
        by MOSSEP
        Hi

Im hoping someone might be able to give me some idea of what may be wrong with my Monitor Audio RSW12 Sub.

Ive owned it since new in around 2002, so would really like to keep it running if I can, it was the first ‘decent' bit of audio equipment I ever purchased and is a little sentimental.

The issue I had was that it would power up with the red light, but sometimes the green light would not come on and I would get no bass from it. If the green light did come on though, I would get sound out of it.

I have already tried replacing all of the...

MacBook Air 2337 - Right I/O Board Audio IC - Alternative Replacement?
        by grimacelord
        Hello,

I'm working on a MacBook Air A2337 that had liquid damage on the right I/O board. I ultrasonic cleaned the board and it all functions except the computer has no audio. I tried reballing the audio IC which is TAS5770AC0, but that did not restore audio. I could just replace the entire board, but I wanted to see if replacing the audio IC would fix it first. Mouser has a similar audio IC in stock which is TAS5770LC0YFFR, but I wasn't sure if it is compatible. I was just wondering if anyone knew if I could use the one from mouser as an acceptable replacement or if I need to purchase...
